Is there ANY car which is more aerodynamic in reverse?

Watching Mythbusters on this topic and they're only testing one model but I've heard this about other cars. Is there any model of car actually known to be more aerodynamic in reverse than forward?

Hmmmm. You missed it. They clearly explained they were testing the myth on the car most often mentioned IN the myth that this was supposed to worked FOR. So, the answer is: NO, there is NO other car that this works for.

The answer is no. The rear of many performance cars are designed to create downforce to push the rear of the car into the road, this is caused by wings and diffusers, which create downforce. To create downforce, you must also create drag. Normal cars have rounded, short rear ends, which are pretty un-aerodynamic. The Porsche Boxter is the only modern car that might have moderately good aerodynamics backwards. But not that you would save any money by reversing to the shops, with only 1 gear for reverse, as opposed to the anywhere from 4 to 7 for foward motion. Which means going 40 mph in reverse you could be running 5000 rpms instead of 1300 rpms

Cars with sloping hatchback rear ends and vertical radiators in front are said to be more aerodynamic when driven backwards than forwards. One well known example of such car is the Austin Allegro, a British car no longer made.

the Porsche 928 was the only one i know of that was rumored to have this design flaw, but if you think about it, it's completely stupid. manufacturers spend millions in design stages, and most cars designed after the 50's have been put through wind tunnels to test their aerodynamics before the final production stage. it's just completely unrealistic for this to be true. plus, just about every car on the road can only go about 40mph in reverse considering that it's only one gear.

My guess is that the Chrysler crossfire would be. But I'm not a design engineer so I can't say for certain.

Maybe the audi tt as well.

To my understanding, no. Cars are designed to go faster when driven forward. kind of the point ya know ;)

I believe it depends on if your in control of your car or not at the time of the incident.
