Help? My neck is killing me!!!?

This morning, I woke up with the left side of my neck killing me! I can't turn my head/neck to the left at all. I can turn it a little to the right, but not without pain. I was thinking I might have slept on weird or something, but this has never happened before. Help! Are there any stretches or something that can help?

It sounds like you just have a crick in your neck. Sometimes when you sleep in a weird position, your neck muscles tense up. You could try to massage your neck a bit, this might loosen up the muscle. A hot compress might help too. Even if you don't do anything, it should go away in two days at the most. I'm betting you'll be able to turn your head with little pain tomorrow.

    My Neck Is Killing Me

The same thing happened to me when I was 20. I woke up one morning with an extremely sore neck, and could barely get around. I had to go the doc for a muscle relaxant. It turns out my soft pillow wasn't supporting my neck adequately and was causing the neck problems. I got an orthopedic pillow which I've slept on every night for the last 3 years and except for occasional stiffness my neck is fine now. Maybe you have the same problem. Can you try sleeping on a firmer pillow tonight?

oh yeah i remember having that a few years back, it really does hurt dosen't it. What i did and it helped a lot get a scarf and wrap it not very tight but as tight as you seem comfortable then maybe have a doctor look at it. Get plenty of rest and try not turning your neck if you can help it, the pain will last max 2-3 days just take regular painkillers every 3-4 hours and relax

Heat: If you don't have a heating pad, a shower or a bath that covers your neck.

Stretches: Bring your ear to your shoulder. Look up at the sky. look down to your toes. Rotate with overpressure(gently assist with your hand on your cheek bone).

Water: Most causes of headaches/neck pains are from dehydration. Dehydration lowers your blood pressure which then limits the amount of blood to the neck and head. When you try to stand your blood is affected by gravity and your blood/fluid make it to your head and neck . Vitamin and mineral supplements with lots of water will hydrate you. Vitamin C, B vitamins and minerals are most important.

Medications: Ibuprofen. If you are able to take this. Ask your Dr if you are concerned about taking meds.

Better go have it checked out. A stiff neck can mean several other issues going on.
