Should there be a minimum education requirement for getting a drivers license?

Legitimate concern. Keep in mind that the English language is continually evolving. Read some of the founding fathers writings and you'll see how our spelling, word and grammar usage can be very different today. Right now the language is going through a great change with the influence of texting molding a lot of written communication. As you well know a lot of my replies consist of spelling corrections or proper word usage examples only. I will not be able to stem the tide. I will say that when an internet community begins to correct or even chastise the offenders things do tend to get better as far as spelling, word usage and conveying a coherent thought. Keep the pressure on. As for education level? I seem to recall that in the city I started driving in some of the absolute worst drivers has an MD prefix on their license plate. Yes they were Doctors. So I don't think one necessarily translates to the other. just my 2¢.

I think you worry way to much, I drive for a living, Private security, and I can tell you that an educated ( college ) is just as bad a driver in some cases then a 16 year old drop out. I was an Aviator in the U.S. Army for 6 years ( Aircraft Structure Specialist ) and I met some of the best pilots that had minimal spelling skills and lack in formal education, or at-least less then you would prefer. Driving does not require many problem solving skills as most things are uniform and preset rules are in place. Speeds are set for your safety and you are warned of curves, lights and hazardous intersection usually. On occasion you will find a situation that involve some good reflexes and instinctive problem solving skills. If you are worried about your daughter then educate her. Send her to a driving school that test to standard. She would learn a lot from defensive as well as offensive styles proper following distance and space management is only part of the big picture.

Yup , and in some places they do`nt even need to understand english. They can have a translater read the questions and give them the answers. Then they get a CDL permit and drive like morons in trucks on the roads. there should be a min grade 10 to get it. But you can buy a gun at 16. Which is worse?

hahah this is funny. well not really i mean if they pass the written test get there permit and pass there DL Then there ready to go. (kinda) yes there is alot of stupid people on the road. even older people that are very smart and they still drive like crap. driving is kinda a skill. some people get a good feel for it and some people suck all there life. my sister is a straight A college student and is really bad at driven. and me i dint go to college and im not very smart but a much better driver.
