Can my couch cushion covers go in the dryer?

My 16 month old son threw up on our couch :( The couch looks and feels like suede but is actually 100% polyester. I decided the best course of action would be to take the covers off and hand wash them, they are hanging dry now but is it possible to put them in the dryer to speed up the process?

They will be fine in the washer on cold water, normal detergent, delicate cycle by the way. The spin dry will get them pretty well wrung out. Then let them air dry for a few hours and put them on the cushions still a bit wet. They will reform nicely that way. Do not put them in the dryer on a heat setting and the air setting is a waste of time and electric.

Truthfully, I don't know for sure if your cushion covers will make it through the dryer because I can't see the material but if it were me, I would not put all of my cushion covers in the dryer at once. I'd do a practice run on a low setting with only one.

If that one shrinks you can rinse it again and let it air dry flat. Then gently tug at the edges from time to time while it is drying. Or if it's already dry, use a wrinkle releaser by Downey or Fabreeze or homemade mix 1/4 quarter fabric softener to a sprayer bottle with water.

You won't be able to wash those cushions every time that they get dirty because they won't match the rest of the couch. But you can clean it with carpet or upholstry cleanser in a sprayer. Or spot clean with vinegar or baking soda paste go get rid of dirt, hair spray, table salt for ink and cornstarch to get rid of oil.

    Good luck with that.

Just about anything can be put in the dryer if it has a NO HEAT or AIR DRYsetting. Even cool air blowing is faster than nothing and the tumbling action will keep them from drying stiff.

Heat can make fine fibers shrivel and curl. Remember when a new winter jacket has nice fluffy hood fur but turns to curly matted wool in a hot dryer? You want to avoid that :)

Washing is one situation....the drying is yet another. My sister did this and had to have the entire sectional redone. in case you will wash them, use the sleek cycle or do them with the help of hand, and don't placed them in the dryer. placed them returned on the cushions and prop them up so as that air can bypass around them. A fan is helpful for this. you will could rotate them so all surfaces get dry. you would be no longer able to apply them for particularly some hours till they are thoroughly dry, regardless of the shown fact that it beats changing them.

sounds like you have microfiber - fabulous tough material! I'd put them in the washer to spin them (on low spin) then tumble in the dryer on very low about 15 minutes to "fluff" them a bit before hanging to dry. Put them on while slightly damp and leave the cushions on end overnight to fully dry - making sure the part of the cushions that touches the ground is also dry.

As a pro cleaner, I stuff the foam back into the cushion covers and allow them to dry this way. Just stand them on end, and if you have one, place a fan near by ti hasten up the drying effort.

Yes you can but put the dryer on low heat setting.
