9MM VS .45ACP WHAT ROUND WOULD BE MORE EFFECTIVE TO KILL A BIG ANIMAL LIKE BULL.?

9MM VS .45ACP WHAT ROUND WOULD BE MORE EFFECTIVE TO KILL A BIG ANIMAL LIKE BULL.?

9MM VS .45ACP. WHAT ROUND WOULD BE MORE EFFECTIVE TO KILL A BIG ANIMAL LIKE BULL?

I MEAN IN A CASE WHEN YOUR BEING ATTACK BY THE ANIMAL. SO YOU WILL NEED THE MINIMUN NUMBER OF SHOT BEFORE IT KILLS YOU.

SO WHAT'S BETTER IN THAT SITUATION? 9MM O.45ACP (PISTOLS)?

IMAGINE YOU CAN ONLY CHOOSE ONE OF THOSE.

I KNOW THERE LOTS OF HANDGUNS BETTER.

For a bull what? Moose or what? Neither would be great for a charging bull moose or Brahma bull. A young guy with my dad in Montana shot a bull moose in the forehead with a .45acp pistol. The moose dropped like a rock AND got back up and charged him. 9mm and .45 acp are meant for human size animals not big game animals. Granted you can walk up to a big steer and shoot it in the ear with either rounds and it will kill it. But that’s not going to happen when it charging you at 35+ mph. For something like that you need more power. Unless you have a death wish.

I would say .357 magnum or 10mm auto as the minimum. Anything smaller than that….. well better hope there is a tree to climb close to you.

    Are you kidding?

In fact I have this very problem, right here, on the farm. We have a herd of buffaloes. Believe me, 'Cows they ain't!' I carry, either, a 45 ACP or a 9mm pistol around with me all day long. If one of those 6 1/2 foot tall, 2,400# bulls should ever decide to go after me, then, whether or not I've got a 45 ACP or a 9mm pistol on my belt ain't going to do me no good at all.

If I can't get up a tree or on top of a rock pile fast enough ........ I'M DEAD!

i'd go with a 9. I'm most accurate with, fastest time between shots.

with a 45 i doubt after the 2nd round i'd hit anything but dirt.

when i rapid-fire my 9, it sounds like i have a sub-gun. and i can get all my rounds on a silhouette target at 7 yards. the only pauses you'd hear is me reloading between magazines. I can dump all 58 rounds into a silhouette target at 7 yards in just a few seconds. don't care how many it takes to finish off a bull, I'd probably pour bullets into the head just to make sure it can't get back up and hurt me.

Source(s): Hi Point C9 LAX range reloads 9x19 FMJ 115 gr ball. 1x8rd magazine, 5x10rd magazine personally if i'll be facing off bulls, can i have my AK47 with me? i'd take that over a handgun any day!

9mm FMJ, preferably 9mm NATO. A full metal jacketed 9mm loaded to +P will out penetrate any 45 ACP load, and penetration is what you need for a big animal. The reason is sectional density. See the article below for an explanation of SD.

Well I would have to say the .45ACP because I believe they bigger holes are better in these situation. Regardless of +P ammo, barrel lenth, or ammo cap. after a .45acp 1911 stopped a 687Ib. hogs from charging at him, I think I can stop the bull. I would be using either JHP or SJHP but no FMJs.

Other than bull fighting, why are you facing a bull? I mean it's sort of like asking about hammerhead sharks? Since matdors don't carry pistols, I'd say carry a sword instead and stand still. Bulls atack movement rather than color.

well i suppose if i HAD to use one or the other, it would be the .45ACP, but its a stupid choice and question.

a full 7 round mag would probably not stop a charging bull.

I have a answer that is equal to your question

    Use a .45/9mm

    it is a 45 bullet stuffed into a 9mm casing .

it has the hard hitting power of a 45 with the speed of a 9 mm

Out of your choice .45 ACP out of my choice a .44 magnum or a .357 magnum will do the job well.

    Practice and Be safe.

    .45 ACP in a heartbeat.

7 (a full M1911 magazine) shots to the face.

But why would a BULL be attacking you!?
