Army Test for Bilingual ?? Please help?

The test you are thinking of is called the Defense Language Proficiency Test or DLPT. Most people who say they are fluent in a language find out they really aren't after taking the test. It does not test speaking ability but reading and listening. So, if you can read and understand concepts in poetry, politics and the economy in Korean, then you may do okay. A level of 3/3 Listening/Reading considered native level and the test rates you from 0/0 all the way up to 5/5. A recruiter may be able to set you up to take the test since you indicated fluency. Korean has always been a top 5 language all the services look for. BTW, I don't know how the army works as far as pay for languages, but the air force requires you to to be in a job that requires use of the language to get money for it. They won't pay you just because you pass the test for it.

It is a little more complicated than that but yes. If you are fluent in certain languages that the US military views as being vital you can take a test which comes from the DLAB in Monteray CA (That is where all military personal who are training to be linguisists, etc go to for training) to see if you are truly proficient in the language. If you pass you do qualify for an additional pay which if believe is between $150-$200 more a month.

There is a test yes. You will not only have to be VERY fluent in speaking but also in listening reading and writing the language.
