your favorite mashed potato flavorings?

Hi guys and girls

I'm having my in laws over for dinner on new years eve.

I was planning to serve mash potatoes on the side (spray on a plate in nice shapes and put in the oven) and would like to offer 4-5 different flavors.

I've got 2 of my favorites allready nl mustard and cream and some sour cream and chives.

but I need some more inspiration.

so what's your greatest flavored mash recipe?

    Road Kill potatoes.

Cut potatoes in quarters with skin on.

Carrots about one part in three to potatoes.

Biol separately, mash together with other ingredients.

Add lots of coarse ground pepper to taste.

Bits of red sweat pepper diced.

    Butter, cream and Chives

Some like to add cottage cheese, I prefer it without.

Sprinkle paprika on top of serving.

This is a recipe I got from an old Scouter.

It comes with a story of how you salvaged the potatoes from the side of the road after a truck collided with some animal crashed carrying produce. Apologizing of course for the sand and other debris (pepper paprika etc.)

As a chef I tinkered with many flavourings, roasted garlic was one of my faves, with either Asiago, 10 yr old Parmesan, Spanish Manchego, a drizzled with either black or white truffle oil, we did this for some dishes in the Hotels I was a sous chef with fr a Canadian Hotel chain in the 1980's, I worked in Canada, Singapore, Japan and Jamaica as the fine dining room chef.

you can try cooking celeriac and apples with the potato and then mash it all together with a little cream. Then sprinkle grated nutmeg on the top.
