Help her out with the things she does for everyone, that would give a relaxing break. As a matter of fact set up a day of pampering for her.
Tell her to put her feet up and you will take care of her regular detail she does for the day. Have a day of relaxation set up for her. Have her favorite foods prepared (breakfast, lunch and dinner), have her favorite music playing.
Have an entire spa day set up for her, have a limo take her and pick her up.
When she gets home have dinner prepared and have a semi retirement gift for her, plus give her a gift for being a great mother.

You know her better than anyone.
I'm sure that your father would not retire unless they both talked it over.
Why don't you talk to your father about this...perhaps he can give you some idea of something thoughtful to do for her.
The best thing you can do is show her you appreciate her everyday...call her, go over and spend time with her, help out around the house if it looks like there is need to do so, take her out for brunch or tea or someplace special - just the two of you-....these are ways you can appreciate her all the time...not just now.

Get her a picnic basket! They will have a lot more time on their hands now and will be able to enjoy it together. The ones on the site below come with all the plates, etc. that they will need. You could put some of her favorite snacks in it and maybe a bottle of wine if they drink.

her retirement is when the children are old enough to go to college and begin working. She has your dad and if something were to happen to him she would receive his retirement, the two are one in marriage. It sure would look funny to give a gift to your mother when your father is the one who is retiring. perhaps and gift certificate for the two of them alone to go to a nice restaurant.

Give her a night out with dinner and a movie. If it wasn't for your mother who dedicated her life to
her kids, home and husband then your father wouldn't be retiring. So she deserves this. She put her
life on hold so she can show her love to you all.Congratulations to you dad and your mom. This is
truly the lifestyle we should all encounter.
