My first question posed towards Christians?
Hypothetical situation:
Tomorrow I become a Christian. My grandfather was not Christian, so he is burning in hell, and will be for all eternity. When I die I will go to heaven, however, my grandfather will not be there because he is burning in hell.
I will be heartbroken by this and will weap for all eternity, in heaven.
If I am not saddened by the fact that my grandfather is not present, then I have the same euporia experienced while one is on heroin. If I automatically am not saddened by this it can only be due to a lack of free will, and/or reason.
If I do not remember my grandfather, then I have become stripped of some of my most precious memories. I will be intrigued by a lack of recollection. The fact that somehow I have long-term memory loss in the afterlife will forever bother me.
How is this paradise?

My young friend, you are only looking at the concept of heaven and hell through the eyes of a mortal. Once there, and the mortal has put on immortality, there is no concept of earthly feelings of grief or sorrow; Heaven would not be heaven if there was bad memories, Hell, n the other hand is replete with bad memories and missed opportunities. Remember, you are not currently able to view things through spiritual eyes, but only through human, fleshly eyes.Your feelings will not be then as they are now.

Now I do not answer every question I see online because, some are asked with different intentions, not necessarily to get an answer for their own understanding, but they want a response, whatever that might be. However, your question is answered clearly in the bible, and I know this because, I once desired to know if we would remember in paradise, so I sought out the answer.
The bible explains, "...the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God." Once we give our lives to God we desire more to please HIM, and we have to get to a Point in our walk with God where we can truly say "Not my will but thy will be done." I'm saying this to say that all though you don't understand everything, trust God, that HE has your best interest at heart, and what HE has already destined for every believer is better than what we ourselves can come up with. The bible said Flesh and blood cannot enter in a 2nd time(Christian live after the Spirit of God), therefore we will have to allow God to transform us Spiritually, and in the end, HE will do it in a moment of a twinkling of an eye into immortality.
Trust God He has the best plan.

1 Corinthians 2:14 - (14) But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Isaiah 55:8-9
8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

First off, I think you need to understand exactly what Heaven and Hell are according to the Bible. Hell is not about physical pain. That may be an effect, but it is not the main point. What makes Hell so horrible is that going to Hell means that you are eternally separated from God and all that is good. To go to Hell is to be ripped spiritually from your creator, the God who loved you through everything but whom you still denied. The result of this is a physical and mental anguish of which we can't even imagine.
Heaven, on the other hand, is the complete opposite of this. Heaven means finally being close to the creator forever, the God we were created to love and worship because he is all things good, pure and righteous. He is the cure to all of our sin and sickness, and when we go to Heaven, all of the pain and fears and anxieties of this world are left behind because we can finally be focused on Him. While on Earth, yes, we will be heartbroken over those we have lost to Hell and we will anguish over that, but in Heaven, though we will likely still remember our lives on Earth, we will finally see God in all of his glory and it will be the most beautiful, wonderful thing beyond anything we can imagine.
I don't believe you will forget your life on Earth. But I do think that you will see life as it's meant to be seen, and you will know God and see that those things that you saw as unfair during life were actually perfect and just, it was just beyond our human understanding.

I am a Christian.
No one knows this, very little is described of heaven in the Bible, and YOU don't know for SURE where your grandfather is. It's difficult to think of it that way, I understand, but you have to move on. It was his mistake, and his problem to live with for eternity. Of course God doesn't want him there or any of the other people there. They didn't believe in Him. They didn't trust Him.
God is loving and fair. Rather no judge.

There are many who suppose that access to heaven is obtained simply by dying. That’s no different than saying anyone may come in off the streets and sit down to your family supper table without first being known to you, without invitation, without first cleaning themselves (at least their hands), and without any show of courtesy and respect. The place in heaven for mankind acquired through Jesus Christ is a free gift only to those who are first changed [i.e., born again; reborn; transformed], committed, and compelled by the force of truth.
Believers are established in maturity (called “perfection” in the Scriptures) only by undergoing challenges that include accepting punishment for sins; enduring afflictions, opposition, and persecution for ones faith; overcoming emotional, psychological and spiritual obstacles; receiving correction; and releasing the things one clings to as a carnal and social being. All are tempted to give up, and to quit; many do. Thus, heaven is only for those who believe and hold on until the end.
There is far more to be said, correctly understood, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, acceptance of a place in heaven requires acceptance of GOD’s decisions, judgments and wisdom regarding all those who are turned away. Distortions, exaggerations, excuse-making, fantasy, and protectiveness often characterize our thinking about family and friends rendering our judgments ungodly.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

It's paradise because the love of God, your Savior, will overwhelm you so much that you will automatically be happy for the rest of eternity.
Also, what makes you so sure that you're gonna be a Christian tomorrow? You can't just drink some wine and eat some crackers and BAM you're a Christian; you have to accept Jesus Christ who died for your sins as your Lord and Savior, because He is.

Boot,
I believe that you will have those memories for all time. The rich man was awaiting the Judgment and wanted to go and warn his brothers but he was told they had Moses and the prophets and he could not return (Luke 16:22-29). I am a Christian and that is what I find in the scriptures. Have a great week.
Thanks,

Boot hat,
First of all, I want to say that I am so sorry about your grandfather. I can tell that he means so much to you and that your love for him is strong; love is stronger than all things.
I believe God loves all of His creations unconditionally, including you and your grandfather, and that God would never separate any of His creations from Himself nor hate them.
I believe God is Divine love -- even the strong love between you and your grandfather.
I also believe that because God is Divine love, everyone will be in Heavenly, eternal bliss with God, including your grandfather.
I do not, however, believe in an eternal, literal burning hell or that God would torture any of His creations.
I do not think that just because someone, such as your grandfather, does not have a certain title or creed, doctrine, etc. that God would hate him and separate him from Himself forever and torture him.
I believe your grandfather knew God in one way or another. I believe God has many names, but is One. :)
In short, I believe God loves you and your grandfather unconditionally, that you are His beloved children (no matter your backgrounds or what you did), that God lives inside your heart, and that you will be with your grandfather in Heaven forever, primarily because of God's Divine love, but also because of the strong love between you and your grandfather.
All the best to you, my friend.
In God's love.

What a tragedy it would be to miss knowing God because of your Grandfather!
God provided salvation and your Grandfather had to make a decision to reject or receive Jesus. You really don't know what happened during his final moments - God may have given him a final opportunity and he may have taken it! He may be in heaven right now waiting for you.................. You don't know.
God is worth knowing and He was gracious and merciful to provide Jesus for you. There will be no fellowship of any kind in hell - each person will be totally alone. don't let this keep you from the joy of knowing God in a personal way.
God bless you...........

i'm episcopalian and a flexible christian. I dont really believe the genesis, original sin, and the after life parts of christianity. However i believe in the moral teachings of christ and the lessons taught in the scriptures of the bible. I honestly believe if you are a good person you can go to heaven. some people tell me i'm not a 'real" christian, but i think that religion is supposed to help you better your life and the ones around you. you dont need believe everything in the bible god will accept you and your grandfather just the same, we are all gods creation.
