How much does remodeling cost?
My husband and I found a house we love, and wish to buy it. However I want to figure out if the renovations are reasonable. The kitchen is 13x10 with vinyl floors. I wish to put pergo flooring down, and new cabinents (nice dark wood ones), and keep the appliances in the same spots, but maybe upgrade the refridgerator and maybe the sink as well. How much would it cost to install new cabinents and lay new flooring in this size space?
Also the house is a 2000 square foot split level, with a four car garage attached. How much would siding cost for this size of a home?

You would definitely require an estimate from a professional interior designer in home/in person estimate to know. Checking your local phone book or home improvement stores have contact business referrals.

Of course it depends where you live. Flooring for that size kitchen is about $1200-$1500. It's mostly the labor cost. If you do it yourself, you can save a bundle! New cabinets are extremely expensive: $10,000-$20,000+. Refacing an old cabinet system with new doors is less expensive. The doors will be replaced and a kind of wood veneer is placed over the existing framework. I'm afraid I have not looked into prices. A new fridge: $1500+ for stainless. Sinks are about $150-$300. You didn't mention counters. Well, that is a costly part! Tile is about $35/square foot plus material. Laminate is about $27 /square foot. Solid Surface and granite start at $45/ square foot, but you won't have many choices in that price range. Most people choose from the $58 / square foot colors.

You're better off doing your own legwork on this. All we can do is give wild guesses. For the siding, call siding installation companies and get a free quote or 3, be sure to check them out with the better business bureau.
Take your floor footage into a home improvement store and look at what's available and how much it costs per square foot. Do the math & add about 10% more for waste.
Cabinets are available everywhere. Go online and price the ones you want. Some home improvement stores or online sites will help you with a layout, too.

I'd say budget for around 10,000. This will cover surprises and gives you a little wiggle room with the prices of things. If your a D.I.Y.er you could probably do it for around 5 grand.
