Difference in workouts between cross country and track?

This year I did cross country for the first time and I want to do distance track in the spring. I was just wondering, what are the differences between the workouts in cross country and track? Since the track races are shorter, is the mileage shorter? Just some examples of a typical week of workouts in track would be awesome! Thanks!

it depends. at my school, distance in track is harder than cross country. that's because the coaches are different. my indoor coach is really into track.

    in track we do:

    monday- 45 minutes and 6x200s

tuesday- 20 minutes easy and 3x200s

    wednesday- meet

    thursday- LSD like 1 hour

friday- speed day. for example, 2x400,2x600,2x800,and a 1600
