Making move from waitress to office job? Resume help!?
I'd like to transition from serving (14years) to an office job. Ive managed and helped with payroll, inventory and scheduling as far as the restaurant business goes. Id like to get a job in customer service or another desk job, with normal hours..not sure about how to word my cover letter for a resume. I am a college student and a single mother so I really need the normal hours, steady paycheck and benefits..
All ideas are appreciated! Thanks!

You've learned many things in a server position that will transfer to an office job, especially since you've had experience with managing, payroll, inventory and scheduling. For example, you have years of customer service experience. While an office job *may* not have you dealing directly with the public, you will be dealing with internal customers. It might help to look through job postings to figure out how to focus your experience/skills toward the job you want. I find that a lot of postings aren't so great, but every so often there's one that has great phrases to incorporate into my resume.
You'll want to include that you've managed a staff of x (number of people), met or exceeded sales targets. Here are some ideas, but there are certainly more you can include considering your experience.
Successfully serviced clients through prompt and courteous attention to customer needs.
Utilized organization skills to manage business resources, including time and money.
Actively assisted in the development of others by sharing knowledge and experiences.
Recognized by management as top performer
Consistently met sales goals

Your resume looks diverse, and some of the positions you were at for a bit CSR, Mrkt rsrch, Ad acc exec. It's not always a bad thing to show that your history is varied. I wouldn't take anything off just yet. If you get a position, and you're at it for a few years, when you go to look for your next job, you can take off positions that aren't related to your field. If it were my resume, I'd leave what you have on there for now. Good luck!
