Satellite tv as in direct tv dish network tv etc etc etc when service is shut off.The Control box and remote are returned in.The satellite dish the customer keeps.Would the dish still work with just an ordinary basic cable control box.Would the satellite service company know this could they detect if the dish is still in use.Or could/can the satellite dish still be used with no control box at all with cable go directly connected to the tv.And would there need to be any special equipment filters accessories and/or anything else etc etc etc. That needs to be in place to use the satellite dish.

No, you need an active Directv or Dish Network receiver to get/ unscramble the satellite signal.

The Directv satelitte dish works with only Directv hardware and the the Dish Network antenna works only with Dish Network receivers. There is nothing you can buy that will change this or all you to steal signals.

Hi this is Alicia Brink. I'm with DISH Network. In order to get a signal for programming through our DISH you have to have several things; a satellite dish, receiver box that can receiver signal, and an active account. If you are missing any of these items the signal will not be complete and able to be received.

A regular cable box would not work. It would not decode the signals coming in from the satellite. In order to decode the signals coming in to your satellite dish and then from there into your tv you have to have their box in order for the tv to work right and be able to watch tv.

The dish is just an antenna. And without the LNB at the center of the dish, it's not even that. It might as well be a leaky soup bowl.

You need their box to be able to receive signals from their service, and being everything is encrypted you need it active on a paid account to get anything.
