A question about warts, specifically, plantar warts.Any help would be greatly appreciated :D?

Basically , these plantar warts have shown up on the sole of my left foot and on my big toe.I would like to know how to get rid of them , how to prevent them , and what causes them.Any answer to any of these questions would be great. And they told me salicylic acid is good to get rid of them. How does that work? Can you explain please how to use this acid? And one last last thing.I play soccer alot so I don't know if that affects them or something , if it does, please tell me how.An answer from a podiatrist would be great or from someone who has these things and has gotten rid of them.Oh ,how should I shower ,they told me to keep it taped. Thanks Alot!

Unfortunately, plantar warts are extremely hard to get rid of on your own. Your best bet would be to make an appointment with a Podiatrist who can talk to you about your treatment options. There are very low success rates for OTC salicylic acid treatments or attempts to "freeze" warts off. You'd be surprised how many patients have came in somewhat desperate after spending a lot of time & money on these methods with no success.

Typically the best/most effective methods are to either get Bleomycin injections or a minor procedure (done in office) to remove them which pretty much includes numbing you & essentially "scooping" them out. Acid is still used in this surgical method to attempt to prevent the wart(s) from returning.

However, it is important that you know that NONE of these methods have a 100% guarantee that they will not return later. Make an appointment with your Podiatrist to find out which would be best for you!

*Oh, and plantar warts are caused by HPV infections on the foot easily spread between people. To prevent this in the future, make sure not to walk around barefoot, especially in moist/public environments, and don't share shoes/socks.

    Good Luck!

i had one too, and it took about a month to go away. i used an over the counter wart removing gel. i recommend the gel over the other products. i then would cover it with a disk (which i had from another kit that didnt work effectively). i used a pumice stone and filed it down. after a couple of weeks, the inner part of the plantar wart was gone, and i let it heal. it hasn't come back since.

I get rid of mine with a switch blade, while sucking on a rag of whiskey
