Why do people need guns?
I'm 35, I've hunted, shoot targets etc, but I've never really needed a gun. I don't know anyone who has. What is the perceived threat? I just honestly want to know. I really don't care if people have gun and use them to blow their's and other's brains out. I'd actually be kind of ok with that.
So people just want to be able to kill other people?
I think it would be horribly dissatisfying to kill someone.
dumb...aside from the hunting thing. i guess I get that.

To hunt. Venison is very good meat and it is unprocessed. Natural food is always better health wise and taste wise. I like my guns but I do sympathize with proponents of gun control. We do need to regulate what kind of guns and accessories are on the market.

I would guess it has to do with where a person lives, the threat level from gangs and drive by shootings, home invasions and, reaction time from the police department. If the authorities could disarm the criminals, law abiding citizens wouldn't need guns and that is the crux of the matter.

Within two days, here in my state, a 14 year old boy repelled a home invasion robbery by three men by shooting one of them in the face. A shop keeper shot two armed robbers the next day. I see where a jogger fended off an attack in Fla by use of a firearm as well.
Would it be better that these people have just accepted the consequences of crime?

People don't need guns, they want guns.
I have to disagree with you when you say, "I really don't care if people have gun and use them to blow their's and other's brains out. I'd actually be kind of ok with that."
That's what the AZ shooter did. He had a gun, and went blowing people's heads off.

Aside from using them for defense, some people like to collect them and others use them for fun like target practice.
