Thoughts on Broncos hiring John Fox as head coach?
A. Great Hire
B. Good Hire
C. Bad Hire
I think B, good hire. We were interested in Cowher and Gruden, but none of them want to return to the NFL right now. And Harbaugh went to the 49ers. So John Fox was clearly the next best hire.
We also interviewed Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell, but from watching a video of him speaking on the Broncos website, I don't see him as a guy that can lead the Broncos to the playoffs even within 5 years. Rick Dennison (HOU O-Coordinator) and Dirk Koetter (JAX O-Coordinator) both had offensive backgrounds rather than defense which we need, and they didn't seem like true leaders either.
Many people think Fox was a terrible coach in Carolina, but it's actually the other way around. The Panthers are a terrible franchise and they have terrible GMs.
Jim Mora, former Seahawks and Falcons head coach, is the leading candidate for the Denver Broncos defensive coordinator position.
I can see the Broncos improving greatly next year, and in the playoffs within 3 years or so.

What, you mean every team didn't want to hire the coach that posted the league's worst record last year?

B
Fox may have just come from the Panthers, but he had a winning record in Carolina. He has experience in rebuilding since he took over when they were 1-15 and 3 years later playing in the Super Bowl. He had other 10+ win seasons so he has experience and a good track record. The best part is that he has a running and defensive philosophy, which the Broncos need right now.

I think he will do a good job for the Broncos. Carolina doesn't like to spend money and that is why that Franchise will always have a celling. In Denver they will be willing to spend money and they have a great Franchise. Even though I'm a Raider fan, I can appreciate the pros there in Denver. I think with their History and with John Elway helping with things they will be back competing in a few years and maybe even next season. They will get Dumervil back next year so that will help and if they can have a great draft, they will be competing again in the AFC West. I think it is a good hire that could be a great hire.

When john fox was hired in carolina, they were a 1-15 team. In two years, he had them in the superbowl. So it is a great hire.

Its a good hire, not great but good. John Fox lost all the talent of the teams he has had in the past. But now his responsibly is going to be to rebuild the team that Josh had let go.

I think he'll do well. Broncos have problems on defense and Fox knows how to coach defense. What I think will be fascinating is whether he will be as high on Tim Tebow as Josh McDaniel was. I thought they overreached to draft Tebow in the first round. What will Fox plan for him?
