Naming a baby after an Edith?
This is hypothetical. But I was wondering, if I were going to name a baby girl after my grandmother, Edith, what are some things I could name her? In my family it's considered okay to just use the first letter, but I don't want anything plain or common like Emma, Emily, etc. So far I've though about Eden and Evelyn. Thoughts?

Edith is an old fashion name, it isn't a timeless name like Catherine, Sarah, or Charlotte. When I think of Edith, I think of the character from "All in the Family", Edith Bunker, Archie's wife, who had a heart of gold and always thought of other people.
That is great you want to name the baby to honor your grandmother. I would use Edith as a middle name though. I like to use first name/double middle names to give life, complement and balance out the other names and it also gives the child more choices of what they want to go by.
Here are example/suggestions:
Heather Edith Madison
Natalie Edith Rose
Chloe Edith Danielle
Victoria Edith Ireland
Melody Edith Paris
Lauren Edith Claire
Katelyn Edith Noelle
Ella Edith Christine

I love just Edith... if you are thinking of Evelyn why not Edith. They are both from the same time period but in my opinion Edith is much cuter. You could call her Edie or Edi (ee-dee). But i doesnt sound like you are namming someone after an Edith if you name them any other E name... it's like saying someone is named after a Charles but they are named Chester. Edith, is coming back and is darling, just stick with that. Or I guess just Edi.

If none of these suit you, I adore the name Eden, and also Edith it's self is gorgeous. If you hadn't already mentioned them, they would definitely be my top 2 choices. Good luck! (:

Edith is very pretty! Why not just go with that? Or perhaps Elise or Ella? :)
