To all disbelievers of Archeology and the Bible?

I have many books on Biblical archeology and have just purchased one called Lost Treasures of the Bible. I just want to know how many can still say they don't believe what is contained in the Bible when there is so much that has been found relating to people, places, situations and everyday life pertaining to what is in the Bible? I find these discoveries truly fascinating and can't understand what more proof some people may need.

    Nancy D,

They don't have it in them. they don't care what the truth is, or in evidence. But I do. So we are two of the same, eh?

    Peace in Christ.

    1 Corinthians 1

18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

I still do not understand why so many people say that archeological remains prove the truth of the Bible.

Can you please tell me why some archeological ruins would make me believe that Jesus came back to life after dying, or better yet, that when he came back to life, dozens of long-dead people also came back to life and walked around the area?

If someone unearths a copy of a Harry Potter book 2,000 years from now, along with the ruins of present day London, why would they believe that Hogwarts was a real school, and that the students flew around on brooms?

Here is something contained in the bible : The bible god murders the innocent first born of Egypt because he is trying to force ONE man to comply with a demand. Oh but this god is merciful.

You really expect me to believe the act of murdering innocent babies is an act of mercy?

This is a GOD the book is supposedly depicting...a god that kills babies when it damn well does not need to kill babies. This thing you call a god is supposed to be superior to me? I do not throw temper tantrums, I do not suffer from any irrational jealousy, I do not DEMAND attention followed by a threat that if attention is not given to me I will have a hissy fit and toss humans into a devil pit. I do not have an EGO the size of the universe.

This baby killing thing you have in your book is INFERIOR to me...yet I should worship it? No..no I don't think I will wallow in evil like christians do.

I will not dispute any of the historical accuracies found in the bible...at the most that is all the bible is good for...a historical record.

There are many historical records in existence...should we wrap a baby killing, veangeful, jealous inferior god around them all? Is that how you determine if a god exists or not...if the historical record says "a city was here" and ruins of a city are found at that site that means the god tied to a historical record really does exist?

Have you read the Koran...you should, then you could worship Allah and the bible God!!!

It's the opposite way around. The bible came from these events, places, people etc. Stories/events happened, then get put into the bible but changed to a religious view. It's not that the bible came first then suddenly all the same stuff started happening

I don't think you will find many arguing about the bibles historical value and truth. Well, maybe parts...but it is the religious text that people have hard times believing. Nobody thinks the bible isn't historically accurate...it wasn't written in some fantasy world....just things that some of the characters in it did and who they claimed to be holds no evidence.

You realize that the co-authors of that book have published little more than guides to the gospel and such stuff, right? It's not like they are real archeologists or anything, and undoubtedly ignored a great deal more archaeological evidence that didn't fit their foregone conclusions than the total of what they included in the book.

There are hundreds of other books that explain common situations too, not *just* the bible.

I'm not going to bother convincing you otherwise because there's no use. You'll keep your mindset despite anyone's efforts.

Nobody knows who wrote the bible! Actually read the bible from cover to cover. Not just verses. Then tell me all that is true.

Edit: One of my favorite bible verses:1Cor.14:34-35 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

Finding artifacts from 2000 years ago only proves that people were alive then.
