Need advice on dodgy car dealer in Ireland?

I bought an 02 renault espace from what i was led to believe was a reputable car dealer and when i went to view it it seemed fine, needed a few bits done to it. But i was assured that it was perfectly clean, never been crashed and had 1 owner. So i agreed to buy it once it was serviced and NCT'd.

Within 4 weeks, The airbag lights were on, as is the service light, the internal heating works sometimes, 3 of the 5 doors are bonky (1 doesn't open and 2 don't close properly), interior lights don't work, 6 cd changer doesn't work properly, plus other niggly issues.

Is there any advice bureaus that i could contact, or if nothing else some way to name and shame the evil man...

forgot to mention that he closed shop in nov, but he has another Business he's in..

Update:

thx a million for your help, even if i don't it sorted myself.. I have thankfully caused this man a serious load of trouble, turns out he was telling people (as he did with me) that he got his car from a main Renault dealership and was putting their stickers on his crocks. They're launching a full investigation... I may not get my car sorted or my money back, but it will cost him a few euro..

Contact S.I.M.I. (Society of Irish Motor Industry) they can guide you from there, also the dept of transport, r.s.a., consumer trading and your local gardai may be able to help. theres a website called cartell, for about €40 they can give you a detailed history from the reg plate. dont forget your local paper or radio talk show feed on stories like this

You bought a Renault. That I'm afraid was your first mistake, as they are notorious for letting you down. First the bad news. Jammed and stiff doors indicate the car has collision damage and this is serious. You need to take it to a reputable mechanic and see if it is safe to drive. The good news, if you can call it that is that the electrical problems are probably quite easily solved. My guess is you've been sold a pup and what comeback you do have will be hard getting if matey has already moved on. I love the idea of name and shame. Have you seen united breaks guitars? A short expose on utube might do the trick. If you are really miffed, try the local paper, jouno's can be a good way to exact some sort of revenge.

I regularly look on here and out of all the makes of vehicles Renault is the car with the most faults, mainly electrical, but in your case you obviously didn`t look at it thoroughly but never the less the dealer should not have sold it in that condition ,i`m afraid you will have a job to get him to rectify it free of charge
