Am I alone in believing that Hollywood is producing more and more trash?

There are far more than 5-10 good movies coming out of Hollywood each year. It's just that they are not among the 150 or so movies released for mainstream audiences.

The problem with the movie industry is they are giving the public exactly what it demands. Time after time the public shows they would rather watch formulaic action or comedies with bad scripts than thought provoking movies with well written stories and well developed characters.

You consider that since there are now no more then 5-10 good movies every year, Hollywood is producing "more trash". That means you think there were more good movies released per year in the past. However, if you go back, let's say 2001, and try the same exercice, you probably won't be able to find more then 5-10 good movies released that year either. Same thing if you try to go earlier in the past.

I do agree that the BIG productions that are coming out recently are less good. But I believe it's mostly because of the increased costs of publicity, increased costs of production and diminished gross profit, studios are less and less willing to take risks in making movies that stand out and innovate (other then with special FX), because if a movie is "too" original, it can't be compared to other older movies and thus they have no idea how successfull it might be. So they often opt to playing safe, which doesn't give good movies, just old recycled unoriginal déjà-vu that's easily consummed and easily forgotten.

And i'm half'n'half as Seamus Finnigan would say. Hollywood isn't pumping them out with a fantastic film each month or so, You get about 2 maybe 3 if you're lucky each year. But they don't half pump out some trash at times.

I have seen some Hollywood films that I really really enjoyed and would re-watch but then again you get sh!t like Twilight and 'Adult'-comedies (I say 'adult' with inverted commas as no adult I know would laugh at them, maybe 15 year old's who find sex jokes hilarious) and then some films are just p!ss poor actions or crappy plots that are made for money.

But every now and again you get one of these AMAZING movies and you just know that the creators of it have put so much effort into it, and then you know, you have a decent Hollywood movie and you only have to wait another year for the next one!

well thats a little harsh. i do believe there are tons of lame movies coming out lately (such as Transformers, Green Hornet, Twilight series, etc) but there are a ton of good ones that have come out in the last few years. here are some great ones i love that have come out in the last 10 years. u can't say all of them are "trash"

those are some great films. what do u think of those? if u havn't seen them i strongly suggest u do.

Well, bad movies have always come out. You just don't remember them because why would we remember the bad? It is likely though that bad movies come out in great quantities now though because technically it's never been easier to make a movie.

But don't fall under the impression that Hollywood, or anywhere for that matter, was pumping out a never ending stream of classic movies month after month and then decided to stop in 2000.

Hollywood has always produced a lot of garbage...I think that lately people are more apt to feel cheated when they lay down $30 or more for a night at the movies

THe only things worth watching is something in the comedy genre.

That is truly heartbreaking. Avatar was nice though. But seeing that people piss all over that film, yet extol something as horrific as Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.... it's like...the fall of modern cinema right there.

If no longer something, i'm valuable that the movie "Legion" will make greater narrative experience than the syncretic mess this is the fiction of the Bible. there is no such ingredient as magic, and it truly is approximately time humanity grew up and usually happening this fact quite than clinging to the ridiculous mythology of the previous.

If you check where those trashy movies are from, they're from France, Canada, Burbank, New Zealand... etc. Not Hollywood. LOL.

its not just hollywood the same goes for TV its unbelievable how many useless shows there are
