What do you think of people that habitually use the "F" word?

Do they think it makes them sound intelligent or cool or is it that their vocabulary is very limited? I just don't understand their concept.

The "f" word is versitile. It can denote many things by people that have a limited knowledge of the English language. It can be used as a verb, noun, adjective and adverb.

It's sad that people get completely comfortable with it's over use. But I have found it's used by people of lower intelligence and socio-economic backrounds.

You are obviously not among those classes of people :)

I use it myself, but manage to restrain from it in public and when in the company of someone I think would mind. If I'm in my own home, it will slip, but, hey, it's my house and we don't have kids yet. And when I'm mad enough, sometimes all "F" breaks loose, lol. But I do think people who use strings of vulgar language in public are inconsiderate of others around them. There are children and other people in general who don't need to hear that stuff. My vocabulary is not limited, I think it's fairly good. And I don't think it makes me sound intelligent! lol In fact, the opposite. But I think it's a cool word, and when used right has some great emphasis. Even a good laugh when used at the right moment. But that's me.

I am amazed at how versatile it is - a noun, an adjective a verb, an adverb. Whilst Kenneth Tynan could bring the country to a vritual standstill by uttering it one late night on the BBC, the moronic Gordon Ramsay (a TV cook/failed footballer) finds himself incapable of constructing a sentence without using it. The result is not big and it is not clever - rather tedious if anything.

Not a lot! Definitely NOT intelligent, cool, or anything positive. Yes, could be limited in vocab. Mostly I just think it's complete lack of thought, thinking, or brain - it's a habit they originally started cos they thought it was clever or macho and then can't be bothered to break.

I save the word **** for the very infrequent occasions when I REALLY need a STRONG word!

They need to improve their vocabulary, the "f" word is not accepted in all social circles.

Swear words are not that bad, if you use them correctly, they can liven up a conversation or even make them sound funny, but if a person overuses it, it just looks plain dumb. Plus, there are times and places where to use these words, you do not use them at school or at work, and certainly not talking to your boss.

The "F" word, along with several other swear words, are now part of everyday conversations. You hear them in just about every conversation. Whether they are offensive or not depends on the situation.

They think it makes them sound cool...

I think it makes them sound uneducated and moronic.Besides,as soon as a swear word crosses their lips, any credibility anything else they had to say is out the window.

I work with a woman who uses it about once per sentence. She sounds like a moron.
