Actually, that is a question which will make them use their imagination, which I'm sure is the point of the assignment. :-P There really isn't a right or wrong answer so it should be completely what you son thinks. If you are really stumped, call the teacher and ask for examples of what she is wanting.

Is there any other information? Its still early in the week and plenty of time to have your child ask or to phone the teacher yourself.

Are these challenge questions supposed to be imaginative? Or do they relate to topics being discussed in class? For example, its its imaginative, the teacher probably is just curious what the kids will come up with and there is no wrong answer. But, if they are studying wood somehow (which seems a little odd), then maybe its more getting at what would happen if there were no forests, or all the wood in your home was suddenly not solid?

That's a pretty abstract question for most 6 year olds to grapple with. I suppose a "for example" would have been of some benefit.

Perhaps you could ask your son ... What if all the products that we use that are made out of wood suddenly changed into water without warning?

That's homework for a 6 year old? What if wood changed into what? If wood changed, it would be different. What kind of question is that?

Well the first thing to decide is what did the wood change into.

You can figure it out from there.

That is a completely stupid homework assignment. I agree.

That's a really odd question. Maybe he could pick a wooden object and use his imagination to decide what it would become.

i'm sorry but that's retarded. I have a 9 and 6 yr old and have never encountered this question.
