1.Ouran High school host club. It isnt exactly about two main characters. There are 7 main characters. and I am not gonna reveal much about it or it'll spoil your first episode! :P Its totally cute and funny! :) Oh and the girl looks like Misaki from Kaichou wa maid sama :D (only with shorter hair)

2.Kimi ni Todoke. At first glance you might think the animation is not so good...but trust me, once you get to know the characters and the story line, its impossible not to fall in love with the anime! :D

Its one of the cutest high school love stories ever! And the animation is getting better and better with the second season. The story line is very realistic.

3.The vision of escaflowne. This is one of the older anime series but the story line is pretty nice. And it fits with your " guy and girl, becoming acquaintances because of some odd circumstance or random event, then slowly becoming friends and eventually falling for one-another" description.lol

5.Gakuen alice. You'll love this series too. Natsume is totally hot (even though he's just a kid :O) lol :D Classic story of hate turning to like to love :D

7.Daa!Daa!Daa! This is a totally adorable series. Miyu is forced to stay in Japan at her moms friends house when her parents leave for America. Turns out that she has to stay with a guy her age. His father leaves for some kind of pilgrimage. So its just the two of them until an alien space ship lands and out comes a little baby boy who starts calling the two Mama and Papa :D!! lovely complex: Risa and Otani are always being laughed at as the comedy duo. Risa, a girl, is taller than the average girl, and Otani, a boy, is shorter than the average boy. The two are always bickering and even their teacher sees them as a comedy act. But as their friendship develops, so do Risa's feelings toward Otani.
