what does this law include?
i just asked about my dad getting a gun and i found this in ohio's gun laws:
Persons indicted for or convicted of a drug offense, or adjudicated a delinquent child for the commission of an offense that, if committed by an adult, would have been an offense involving the illegal possession, use, sale, administration, distribution, or trafficking in any drug of abuse.
wouldn't this include a misdemeanor for marijuana? it conveniently says "offense" and not felony

The NRA probably has the best, most up to date summary of each states laws, other than official Ohio gov site.
Yes it probably would include a "misdemeanor for marijuana", because in the previous statement clearly calls out "felony". Further down, it clarifies:
"Persons disqualified under the second or third item
above may obtain relief from disability from the court
of common pleas by presenting facts showing fitness for
relief from the state disabilities."
Investigate the following organization for further information:

laws vary from state to state a little, but the federal background check forms deal with drug and alcohol abusers. The NICS database is federal, but complied from various states. What you are reading on About.com is an extremely watered down summary of a law. if you really are uncomfortable, just head on down to your local police station or call your local state attorney for clarification.
