Wiring Problem !!!!!?

I live in an old apartment building and haven't had any problems up until recently. Last night I left my hallway light on and came in to turn it off this morning and it wont shut off it's staying lit like it's constantly getting juice. I'm worried about my electric bill. Any suggestions?

yep, find your electric panel and locate the breaker for that light. Flip them one at a time, and turn them back on until you find the one that shuts off the light. then with the breaker off, remove the switch plate cover and remove the switch, unhook the wires and replace the switch with a new one. Is it a light that turns on or off by more than one switch? If so, be sure to buy what is called a three way switch, and mark the wires with tape to show which one goes to which connector before you take the wires off the old switch.

    Good luck!

John has the answer, and I wouldn't worry about electric bill, less than a 100w light bulb won't cost more than 25 cents a day to keep on.

The switch is shorted, replace the switch or unscrew light bulb.

It sounds like the switch has gone bad.
