Can you get sick from touching things that a mouse has crawled on?

this might be a dumb question, but whatever...

my cats chased a mouse in my room, and I don't know where it went and when I let them in to find it they just started stalking my lizard in its cage lol

I saw it run over my slippers and run in and out of my closet and all over, so could that stuff be contaminated now? would I get sick by touching it? should I try to clean the space somehow?

also, can mice climb? like, could it climb up my bed while I was sleeping? I don't even want to be in here right now!! help, please!

Rodents, mostly deer mice and packrats, can spread the very dangerous Hantavirus. The full name of this disease is Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome, which is a big name for a very scary, but rare illness spread by small pests. About a third of the people who caught Hantavirus have died. However this is a rare disease, with only 318 known cases between 1993 and 2002. Most cases have been in Southwestern states.

The urine, droppings, or saliva of infected rodents contain this virus. Humans can catch the illness if they breathe in particles of the droppings, saliva, or urine that are in the air. They can also catch Hantavirus if they touch or are bitten by infected animals.

Rats are also responsible for spreading bubonic plague, also known as the "Black Death." Although fleas are responsible for infecting humans, —they get it from the rats!

Getting rid of mice in sofas, beds, and furniture

Mice in my sofa! Are you kidding me? It's true and more common than you may think. Mice in sofas furniture, and beds occur because these items are perfect nesting sites for mice and rats

It's possible the stuff is contaminated, but I honestly wouldn't worry about it. Don't bother cleaning anything unless you can see grime. The diseases associated with rodents only come from extreme infestations (lots of pee and poop) or fleas biting them, then biting people.

And yes, mice can climb very well, but it's not going to be crawling up into your bed since it'll either hide in a hole or walk along the floor, following the walls. The only reason for it to crawl into your bed is if it's being chased, so don't worry about it. Mice don't live in trees, so naturally they want to stay on the floor.
