does anyone still listen to "old" music?
i'm a teen and i love "old" music lol :) i like lots of music from the 60s 70s 80s 90s and some very very early 00s and almost nothing of today's music. is this normal? hahaha i'm sure this isn't a phase because i know what i like and i don't like things just because my friends like it or don't like it. I might not "truly" like the artists because i only like a couple songs from them but i usually listen to more and more of their music so i end up "truly" liking them.
some of my favorite artists are:
the beatles/some of the songs after they broke up and went their ways
michael jackson/Jackson 5
the police
coldplay (well its kinda new)
taylor swift (only some of her music lol don't judge mee)
colbie caillat (yes shes kinda new)
the fray (kinda new)
phil colins
jason mraz (kinda new)
sara bareilles (kinda new)
journey
green day (kinda new)
ABBA
BeeGees (yes i do haha)
theres a chinese song that's like the song "We Are The World" and in translation it means "Tomorrow Will Be Better" it's called 明天会更好
bob dylan
Simon & Garfunkel
The Eagles
Kenny Loggins
U2
Stevie Wonder
Lionel Richie
Daughtry (kinda new)
i'm sure theres more lol but do you have any suggestions on any different bands/artists for me?
oh and please say if you're another teen that loves old music too (i feel alone at my school lol everyone likes "today's" music like justin bieber or lady gaga or miley cyrus and whatnot. i don't mind those people but i don't listen to them lol.
thanks! :D

this is exactly how i am. for some reason i like my music to take back to a place in time...(i'm only 20)...so i love older bands. u2 is my favorite band, yes even their new stuff. i also love the beatles, rolling stones, bob dylan, bruce springsteen, the beach boys, and the works.
you'd definitely love radiohead, little richard, and david bowie. i know radiohead is kind of new (early 90's) but the bends and ok computer are two 90s albums that will stand the test of time.

I personally do not consider 80s music oldies, and especially do not consider 90s or 00s music oldies. Music from the late 90s and early 00s was popular when I was a child (I am 15 going on 16), so if I were to consider it old, then that would mean that I am an old lady, LOL. ~_^ However, there is a lot of great 60s music (an era that I do, in fact, consider "oldies"), so I suppose our tastes converge there.
However, I'm certainly what you could consider a young person that appreciates old music. I listen to everything from the baroque era, through the classical era, through the Victorian era (early recordings), through the jazz age, through the Big Band/Crooners era, through the early Rock and Roll era, essentially anything from before approximately 1975 (although there are some "newer" songs that I find enjoyable, and by "newer", I am referring to songs from the late 70s onward). I can certainly relate to what you say at the end, although an increasing number of my peers prefer The Beatles and Buddy Holly over Justin Bieber or Katie Perry.
If you enjoy 60s music, I would highly reccomend the song "Runaway" by Del Shannon.

A lot of that I was around for when it was new and I still appreciate it to this day. I like good music and I'm not stuck in the past or anything but these days good music is so thin on the ground.
@Heyitsme... I like the Partridge Family, too. I have a CD I play in the car quite often...

I'm 15 and I like old music :D
My friends (playfully) laugh at me because I have 'old' songs on my ipod. I like today's bands like Short Stack (Australian band) and Good Charlotte, but not the mainstream RnB stuff like Justin Bieber or Usher.
Truthfully, when I'm listening to my ipod, I'll shuffle all of my Michael Jackson songs only, so I only listen to him :) I do have a wide variety of his songs, though, so they don't run out :). I'll also listen to a bit of Janet Jackson, who's music I really like but I don't know much of, Madonna, Wham! (I only have one of their songs, though), some other old songs which I can't remember at the moment, and the bands like Short Stack and Good Charlotte, but mostly MJ.
In general, I think music was best in the 80's, and maybe a bit of the 90's, because it wasn't all computerised RnB you need no talent to sing. Also, people like Michael Jackson and Madonna had more original songs. Like, if you listen to a song by Usher, and a song by Jason Derulo, there's not really anyway of knowing who it is singing the song, because the style is the same. They do sing well, but it's not original.
