Why does it seem like everyone hates Crosby?
I just started really getting into Hockey which means I spend all my time on youtube looking up hockey related things and it seems like everyone hates Crosby?
I mean he is out right now but he seemed like he was a pretty good player, so what is with the major hate?
although I will say it is kind of funny watching Dubinsky call him Crybaby Crosby...

The number one main reason is because of his immaturity when he first entered the league - which is well documented and evident.
Many people can't forgive a player even if he does eventually grow and mature.
That's it, it's that simple.
It has nothing to do with him being a great player who's not on their team, and nothing to do with where he's from, or what he makes or what he's accomplished, it has nothing to do with jealousy as his supporters would have you believe. It's about maturity, about the way he held himself when he came into the league as a rookie.
It's the same with Ovechkin, lots of people hate on him because they thing he's arrogant, or because he's only 8th in the league in scoring right now and therefore "the biggest bust in NHL history" as one dumb Yahoo! user put it. Different people put more sway on certain personality traits than others, that all.

In my opinion he is one of the best, if not the best player in the game right now, and people might not like him for a number of different reasons.
First off, he had a lot of success at a young age, which can be frustrating for opposing teams, players, and fans. He's won almost every important trophy in the game of hockey and he is only 23 years old. Some players have played a full career and haven't even come close to achieving what he has.
Secondly, he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins, a team which had already had greats like Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr. Crosby was drafted in the same time frame that Marc Andre-Fleury, Evgeni Malkin, and Jordan Staal were drafted. This created frustration because the franchise was revitalized with young talent that other teams did not have.
Thirdly, the NHL seemed as if they unofficially endorsed him from the time he entered the league as the one player who could act as their poster child that would revitalize and help the NHL become a prominent pro sport in America. This could be frustrating too because any normal person would ask themselves what he had done to deserve this honor and treatment. There were a lot of phenomenal players that had been around the league for awhile, but were passed over for him. This kinda gave the impression that he didn't have to work for anything and show he deserved it, something that I feel will diminish over time after he puts his time in and gains respect.
In reality, I can completely understand why people would not like him because he's a frustrating person to play against and he isn't your typical hockey player. He's not big or tough, but he has amazing skill, intelligence, and an uncanny ability to make those around him ten times better.
As he gets older and matures I think more will grow to accept him, but as a young kid it's hard not to get frustrated.
In all honesty he's a great person, he's kind to the fans and public, he's incredibly appreciative and humble, he's not selfish or arrogant, he puts his heart into what he does and never once shows signs of stopping.
It's crazy because I don't see why most people wouldn't hate Ovechkin more than Crosby, but once again look at the situation, Ovechkin still has yet to accomplish most of the things Crosby has already done.
By the way I am a Pens fan and huge hockey fan, but I am honestly giving an unbiased and realistic approach.

I have nothing against Crosby at all - No hate and stuff.
And I don't get why so much people hate him too...
Just because he's a great player and he's talented in hockey.
Somehow a lot of people hate him anyways.
I can highly bet 100% that they are jealous.

I don't really have anything against Crosby, but I will admit that the NHL shoving him down my throat does somewhat get on my nerves sometimes.

i dont think he's out anymore.
but he is a crybaby, embelisher, and gets away with cheap plays. but you could also contribute some of the hate to all of the love for him. hes the poster child for the nhl. its the same with ovechkin.
im not a fan, but i'll admit he can be pretty fun to watch sometimes.

1. his good
2. he doesnt play for that person's particular team (he plays for Canada in the olympics, so there's another reason for the whole country to root against him)
3. he's overly flamboyant (like Tim Tebow, who draws attention to himself over petty things)
edit: chief boot is foolish. to think that it has NOTHING to do with people not living in the area is absurd. most of his haters are outside of pittsburgh, and tha'ts a fact.
