Is your 10 year old son eating enormous portions of food and still always hungry, yet staying slim?

No, he doesn't have worms.

He eats adult-sized meals, bananas and apples go from the fruit bowl as fast as I can put them in there, yoghurts disappear from the fridge at an alarming rate, he gets through a 500g box of breakfast cereal in 4 days...

Does everyone's 10 year old eat like this? How can my shopping budget keep up?!

Update:

I don't buy much snack food. He eats 3 meals a day plus fruit, yoghurt, nuts, dried fruit, milk, etc.

He's a growing boy about to go through puberty. From the sounds of it he's going to be a big kid. My 15 year old eats more than the average man and my grocery bill had doubled in the last two years. It's just a phase, you're providing plenty of healthy options which is great. Maybe there is a food co-op in your area where you can buy things in bulk cheaper.

he's 10...he's almost hitting puberty. so it kinda makes sense he wants to eat all the time. He's just going through a growth spurt which 99.9% of boys do at that age.

It seems all healthy things he's eating, so why are you worrying? He's not putting on weight which means he's doing plenty of exercise to burn whatever he needs off.

Try to buy high in fibre foods. starchy foods. lots of potatoes and bread and things to keep him full up for longer. fruit and yogurts won't keep him filled for long. if he wants to eat get him to eat something more substantial rather than grazing through the day. in a couple of weeks or months it will slow down but by the end of it he'll be tall and if he keeps the exercise up he'll be fit too.

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular “fad” diets out there. Go here https://tr.im/6DgrA

The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it’s just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it’s a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

Im like that, but I used to be fat then lost weight and now im always hungry, but don't gain weight.

Maybe try buying less snack foods and more meal based foods. Feed that boy 3 meals a day thats all he needs nothing more.

Yeah my brother was like that at the same age. But at least your son is earing healthy. My brother refuses to eat sandwhiches or fruit and although we try and make him eat as healthy as possible it isn't always that easy. But he is always active and is still the skinniest kid in the entire family. I think boys are just like this while they're growing. As long as he is active and uses up all that extra food and energy then he'll be fine.

Very common. Just make sure all his meals and snacks are "whole" foods so they stick with him longer and that's about all you can do. The cereal won't stay with him btw (no complete proteins)

my nephew is like that. we often joke that he has a tapeworm.

does your son play alot of sports or very active?

he could be mostly muscle so he burns the food off really quickly.
