Will the denialists help coin the next laughing stock statement of history?
I'm talking about phrases like: The Earth is flat. The Sun revolves around the Earth. The Universe revolves around the Earth. If man were meant to fly he'd have wings.
They can't deny reality forever and its eventually going to fall down on them.
@Mike L I didn't say anybody believed those statements. I meant the same effect that those statements have on us today.
@Mike L I fail to see how doing things better and being more efficient and better technology will put people back in the 15th century. Will you please enlighten me?
@Peter and who said "We are approaching a tipping point" or are you talking about in the future? I fail to see what your graph has anything to do with anything. Among other things that have been said here to prove the past isn't relevant unless you can prove its at a faster rate of change than the rate of change we us humans have achieved since the industrial revolution. Plus you can't completely compare early Earth with the Earth of today. Its like comparing apples to grapefruits.
@Jerry We all wish it was. But none of you have shown any evidence or logic to prove your statement. All you guys ever do is make statements like that, as if since you said it it must be true. For once you should assume that we don't believe you know it all and we want something to back up your words.
@Bob did you look at your link, the OPINION button is highlighted. Does that tell you something, the only people laughing are the frauds.
Edit: Do any of you gives have any logic to back up your statements or is that all you got?
I will give anyone of of you credit if you can show me any period in history where the global average temperature rate has bee 0.005 degrees C rise per year and the CO2 concentration have risen 0.625 PPM per year. Thats the rate of increase we have seen since the industrial revolution.
All you got to do is pull up a graph of and do the math. If your links are and graphs can be backed up by legitimate graphs and they show the rate of increase greater, I'll give you the prize. Barring unusual activity such as meteors, asteroid hits, super volcanoes.
You guys can laugh it off but the chances that all this happened by coincidence at the start of the industrial revolution is quite slim and the laugh will be on you.
@Peter You gave me another one of those believe me cause I have spoken statements. I want proof of it and out of curiosity how you could even come to that conclusion since the facts say you are flat out wrong.
@Ben O Yes people make predictions without knowing all the factors but the rate of melting is still astonishing. Just cause they were wrong with the timeline isn't the same as being absolutely flat out wrong.
@Duke You have a point there.
@linlyons also your point taken.
Edit2: None of you deniers going to take a crack at the chance I gave you to prove you are right in my firs Edit: line? Thats tantamount to saying we admit we are wrong.
@Peter No I didn't ask for a link from 2000, before the evidence really started rolling in, and no I didn't ask for your link from WhatsUpWith that a denial blogsite. I asked for logic as in give me the high and low temperatures of a period, subtract the two and divide it by the length of the period. And tell me the period you are talking about so I can verify you are not making things up. And yeah I know the world is all in a conspiracy and cooking up the numbers to make you look bad.
Edit: Well laugh it up guys cause soon enough the world is going to be laughing at you. But I am putting another checkmark next to my statement: That none of you have any plausible explanation as to what natural event could have caused the unprecedented rate of temperature increase and CO2 concentrations.
@OM Just cause you don't understand does not mean it is not true. If you don't want to be called a denier you can fix that by learning how Earth works and how essential the Earths CO2 sinks are to its process.
Put it simply we are suffocating the Earth by stoppering its CO2 sinks (drains) meanwhile pumping so much CO2 in the air. So now all the extra CO2 lingers around in the air and causes havoc to our weather patterns.
The facts are facts the Arctic is melting the oceans are getting more acidic because they are trying to take in more and more CO2. The coral reefs are getting bleached because of it, You can't deny that. You can't hold onto your position that there's no problem without being able to explain why you can choose the argument that is completelty wrong. Sorry but if you deny reality we call you what you should be called.

Maybe, but they seem more likely to be remembered like the "experts" who testified that there was no link between smoking and cancer, or the newspaper that showed Titanic arriving joyously at New York. Climate science deniers don't really believe in anything as concrete as a flat earth or an Earth-centered universe. The reasons for climate science denial are instead a shifting grab bag of contradictory fictions, half-truths, deceptions, and distracting irrelevancies. A closer analogy may be Holocaust denial. Its deniers offer no consistent alternative history, just a series of endless circular claims that it couldn't have happened (despite what 99% of scholars in European history say), because it is (1) just an Israeli myth because Auschwitz was reconstructed, and thus never existed, or (2) it existed but was only a work camp, because how could you possibly cremate so many millions of bodies, or (3) Jews died there, but only of natural causes, or (4) some Nazis lied afterwards, therefore there was no mass killing, or (5) sure, the Nazis deliberately killed people in the camps, but Stalin killed more people, so the Holocaust must be just an Israeli plot; look at all those reparations Israel got.

Well on the flip side of the coin, believing CO2 is the main cause of warming may just be the equivalent of the old belief that the world was flat.
They do have many things in common after all. Evidence suggests both are true and it appears to make sense on the surface. But after some digging, a different picture emerges. I believe when it comes to CO2 and climate, we still need to do some more digging. Calling me a "denialist" isn't going to change that. More digging will.

To Maxx: <<one million) The Earth has been each a lot hotter and far chillier within the far away beyond,....>> Could you please give an explanation for to me Maxx how in the world (pun supposed) you'll declare the above even as you religiously suppose the earth is most effective 6,000 years ancient, supply or take a couple of thousand years? It isn't that I don't suppose that the earth was once hotter or chillier 'within the far away beyond' (which actually it was once, a number of occasions). It is simply that I are not able to realize how you'll maintain a instantly face argueing a paleoclimatic list (which works again thousands of countless numbers of years) whilst you don't suppose in a paleoclimatic list in any respect to start with.

How about there is a 50% chance that the Arctic will be ice free by 2008.
In fact, google 'The Arctic could be ice free by' and get a few hundred different predictions ranging from it's a few years overdue to sometime next century and everything in between.

What causes ancient seas to dry up? Is it the warming of the earth?
What caused the ice age to diminish? Was it global warming?
How do you expect people to believe in global warming with such a minute amount of data?
I think the next phrase could be "you got duped."

If that was a serious question I would answer it however shouldn't you be praying to the global warming god for those tipping points and begging him to turn up the heat rather than the cooling since 2000?

"we are approaching a tipping point" -AL Gore's {An Inconvenient Truth} is good for a laugh when you look at history.
This graph shows how it's been warmer in the past and the earth didn't tip.
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_4J_TXny_Kmg/S0WQe3QP6_I/AAAA...
There has been no "rate of change" in temperatures from anything that has happened in the past.
Unless you use fabricated temperature data

If you like that one you will love this classic line from Jim Hensen spoken in 1988 where he states that the west side highway in NY will be underwater in 20 years. Hasn't happened has it?

Those statements are century's old . I doubt any modern day person believes those.
The warmers are the luddites smashing machines and send people back to the 15 century.

Global Warming is real, if ever there was a laughing stock statement it's definitely that one
