I'm confused by your budget. Is that 3.5-4K, as in $3,500 - $4,000? Or is that 3500-4000K as in $3,500,000 - $4,000,000 ( in which case you could have written 3.5-4M)?

How much is too much? Depends on your ability to pay. For a working class family, $4M is probably too much. For Paris Hilton, probably not.

For what you've detailed, I'd say a budget in the hundreds of thousands to millions is about right. Designer dresses alone are in excess of $8000 (although I have seen the Selena for less than $500)

Cakes can get up there too. According to this price estimator, a relatively low-end 3-tier will run just under $500, while the low end 4-tier is over $1300!

Flowers are expensive too, especially retail. If you've got crafty friends, I'd suggest hitting up the Flower Market in your area (http://www.laflowerdistrict.com/). If you can find a dealer who will sell retail - since most of them only sell wholesale - you'll save a bundle! Otherwise you may end up spending $30-$50 for a dozen roses in a simple arrangement from a florist.

Have you called Disney, because I think their average wedding packages for 100 guests run about $20K (that's $20,000) according to some sites. Hiring Cinderella's coach is another $2200 or more.

I'm sorry but on your budget, you can't afford to host 250 guests. I had 100 guests and the meal was almost $50 per person, not including dessert. then we paid another $4000 for the bar, and over $3000 for the venue. you do the math! with $4000, you could afford to fly just your 4 parents down and pay for their hotel I guess, and then you wouldn't have to worry about wedding favors, invitations, centerpieces, tux rentals, flowers for a ton of bridesmaids, and all the other thousands of dollars that have to be spent for a full wedding.

You really need to work out a budget and find out prices for everything that you want included. Work out things that are "must haves" and things that maybe you can do without.

If its your dream to have it at Disneyland, go for it! I would go for the carriages if it was me, just to fit in with the whole theme of the day.

    So to answer your q's

1 - If its more than you can afford, or if it means you are going to be in a LOT of debt for a long time.

    2 - Carriages

3 - Are you having 2 cakes because there are that many guests or just because you like both? Maybe 1 of the cakes can be cut up and placed into cake boxes/bags and handed out as favors. I got married in Oct and ended up having a thank you card with a foil wrapped chocolate love heart placed on everyones napkins at the reception table which killed 2 birds with 1 stone as we didn't have to send out thank you notes later! You can get some really nice lollipops made up in your colors or with a sticker on them with the date and you and your husbands names - other than that I don't know (I quite like food favors rather than items that are going to be thrown away eventually)

Anyhow hope I have been of some help - best of luck with the planning and wedding!

Its too much when you can't afford it and it puts you in debt.

I don't think you can pull off a disney wedding with 250 guests for 4000. That's $16 a plate, is the hotel affordable?

If you already have reserved the Disney venue, I am surprised you don't already know the price. Better add another "0" to your budget. Disney weddings are expensive.
