What are some good, inexpensive wedding reception places near Akron, Ohio?
I'm on the hunt for a reception and ceremony place for my wedding in October. I have a tight budget, so I want somewhere NICE but not too expensive. Any input would be appreciated. Even just places to rent where food can be brought in would be fine! I've done a lot of research but I'm wondering if anyone has had experiences with any place.

I'm also from Akron and looking for a nice but cheap reception venue, so I'm interested in seeing if there are other Akronites on the forum who can help us out. :)
I'm thinking about using the Tudor House, which is about 15-20 minutes south of downtown in the Portage Lakes (not sure which neighborhood you're in). It's nice and park-like, on a lake, on the National Register of HIstoric Places, just got an alcohol license, and it has great rates:
May 15-October 15
Monday-Thursday - $25.00 per hour - 2-hour minimum
Friday & Sunday - $75.00 per hour - 4-hour minimum
Saturday - $85.00 per hour - 5-hour minimum
October 16-May14
Monday-Thursday - $25.00 per hour - 2-hour minimum
Friday-Sunday - $50.00 per hour - 4-hour minimum
Indoor capacity is 75 people, and outdoor capacity is 125. You can choose your own caterers. Once again, I'm not sure what neighborhood you're from, but if you're a community resident like me, you get 10% off. Anyway, it's really pretty, especially in the spring and summer, and it's next to a state park and a very quiet neighborhood, so no worries about noise interruptions if you decide to hold the ceremony.

dollar stores can truly be miracle workers! try and find some coloured stones, and put those on the table with a plain white table cloth. I found a plastic thingy that is 20 ft long at a party place last year, hung that up behind the head table - it was back with stars on it - it really make a big difference, since the entire room was white, and it turned out to be a really cool backdrop! Once the tables are set, and people are there, no one will notice the walls or the ceiling, trust me. Everyone'll be oohing and aahing at the bride!

Restaurants usually have a party room that you can rent. They don't hold many people, but tend to be on the cheaper side.
-hotel ballroom (usually more all-inclusive than other places)
-Veteran's Hall
-Local Kiwanis Club hall
