Could you? Sure, especially with an airbag in addition to the seat belt. It's also very possible that you would be bruised by the seat belt, have neck pain, possibly a closed head injury, get cut or bruised by flying glass and other objects, or be hurt otherwise.

A few years ago I was driving on a highway going 65 mph or so and a deer ran out in front of my SUV. I braked hard and the person in the SUV behind me failed to see the deer, or that I was nearly stopped, or anything, and hit me without even touching the brakes! I was pretty sore the next day, but basically OK and the other driver who rear-ended me just got a bloody nose and very minor facial scratches when they hit the airbag. Airbags combined with seat belts save a lot of lives and prevent a lot of serious injuries.

This actually happened to my husband and me a few months ago. Our air bags in our car (2013 Mercedes-Benz C250) did not deploy because we were hit from behind. All of the airbags in the car that hit us (2014 Toyota Prius) did go off. We and the other driver "walked away." However, between the two of us, my husband and I have 13 herniated discs in our backs and necks. He has to have surgery to repair a tear to his shoulder tendons and muscles (from the restraint of the seat belt). We had no cuts or broken bones, but we have a good deal of soft tissue damage, a lot of pain, and a long recovery ahead. I do not know what kind of injuries the driver of the Prius has, other than chemical burns on his arms from the air bags. Be careful out there. You never know what could happen.

I was in a car accident ( I was rear ended) on a highway at 60mph, and the truck that hit us and us were ok, but we were slowed down before it happened i think. So not sure..

Don't go try rear ending anyone!
