    y = 2.50 + 3x

    y= 4 + 2.25x

    subtract equation #2 from equation #1 to eliminate y

    0 = -1.5 + .75x

    .75x = 1.5

    x = 2

    substitute 2 for x in either equation to find y

    y = 2.50 + 3(2)

    y = 2.50 + 6

    y = 8.50

    Multiply the bottom equation by 3 and the top by -2.25.

    -2.25y=-5.625-6.75x

    3y=12+6.75y

    Add the equations together to cancel the ys out

    .75y=6.375

    divide by .75

    Y=8.5

    put the y back in to the original equation to solve for x.
