Best vacuum cleaner for under $200?

Canister or up right? Something with a good hepa filter. Consumer reports won't let me look, so if anyone knows the latest recommendations that be great

I like the upright better (for carpet) and you can see the Consumer Reports Magazine at the local library.

Also, the reviews on Amazon are helpful. And Sam's or Costco have nice models for under $200.

I bought a Hoover at one of those places a few years back that I have been very happy with so far.

Shark Navigator or the Shark Navigator Lift-Away ($150 - $200 ). Both have their strong points and weaknesses, but overall are decent vacuums that definitely out perform vacuums that are under $100.

Bissell and Hoover are decent brands with excellent customer service if you want an inexpensive vacuum. Stay away from Eureka, they are a poor quality and poor service brand.

Just get a Dyson, nothing on earth cleans like it, and you will never need to buy another one again. They start at $300..that's just $100 more and so very worth it...the others are all garbage...trust me I've owned them all! The fact that Dyson doesn't need bags or belts will make it worth the money alone...you just take it apart and wash it and it works like new once again. It's amazing!
