Who brought Wicca to America?

I'm looking for more of a history. I understand Gardner met with an American named Cornwall, but I don't see the connection of him bringing the practice to the states. Where did modern Wicca in the United States begin?

Raymond Buckland is credited for bringing the first Wiccan coven to America.

Despite Gardner's connection with Cornwall, it was actually Raymond Buckland who brought modern Wicca to the United States. He brought it here in about the 1960's.

Mainly Raymond Buckland was responsible for bringing and spreading Wicca through America.

As others have said, it's credited to Raymond Buckland. He was a member of Gardner's coven in Britain, and he moved to the US in 1962 and brought it with him. Buckland is still alive and active in the community. He even has a web presence.

As was said above, Raymond Buckland is generally credited with bringing Wicca (which started in England, as you know) to the States. Since others have that covered, I'll help you with your where:

    Long Island.

Depending on who you ask, you can also say NYC, but Long Island is more accurate.

There is an unconfirmed story about a War Bride in California who came here and started a coven.

Technically, Wicca is only about 50 years old created in the USA; it was a organization in the USA that brought those beliefs together to make them a religion, which then disbanded. I'm not sure where the name came from.
