Without mentioning what city you are flying from and what city in FL you are visiting as well as what dates you plan to travel, it is really hard to help you. I suggest you start off with http://www.kayak.com./ A number of discount airlines fly to different cities in Florida. You can see what JetBlue, Southwest, Virgin America, Spirit, Allegiant, AirTran have.

There's no website that will ALWAYS be the "cheapest". That's why you have to shop around. Try to be flexible on your dates and times. If you can drive a short distance to a "less" busy airport, that might help save some money. Try to book your flight early am or late pm, that can sometimes save money. Weekdays are usually cheaper than weekends.
Don't limit your search to only the "well-known" travel sites, most are owned by the same company -which mean not much difference in the price. So,be sure to check other travel sites otherwise you might miss out on a great deal.
Think of these travel sites like grocery stores, they all "sell" the same thing. So, why pay more for the same flight those other guys are selling?
Try this travel site, it's my favorite for have better deals than those other guys....

Hope this helps!

It depends on the date you are looking for. Spring Break travel season has started and fares are going up exponentially with out any sign of going back down. You'll need to watch for sale fares and book 30 days or more in advance to have the best available rates. Fares have gone up $20-$100 each way, all airlines just recently implemented a stiff rate hike.
There is a common misconception that airfare is "cheap", which is like claiming something is "low calorie". Sign up for e-mail alerts for the airlines that service your airport. Since you didn't say where you are departing from, it's hard to tell you if you have any non-stop options or on what airline.
If you update your post with your expected dates and where you are departing from, it may be easier to tell you what your options are and if there are any alternative airports to get a cheaper rate.

I look up flights on kayak.com, then check the website of the airlines offering the flight because they might have a cheaper rate (by only a few bucks, though).
