How do I make him eat full bottles?

So my son was doing great (he still is perfect but anyway) He would eat every 3 hours and would eat the right amount. Then all of a sudden he started eating every 1-2 hours and only eating 2 oz here...1 oz here... etc.

I want him to eat full bottles because I don't want him to get into the habit of always eating!

Help!

Thankyou!

Sorry - He is 4 months old and is doing really well I'm just wondering if this is normal or how to get him to remember... Should I just feed him when hungry and let him do his thing OR should I feed him once every 3 hours and if he doesn't take it he doesn't get more until 3 hours later...?

Its a growth spirt my love. When he's out of it he'll eat the entire bottles again. As long as it's not bothering him and he seems hungry after eating his 2oz, leave him be :) PS --- I HATE SNOW!!!

Feed him on demand/when he's hungry- listen to his signals, he knows when he's full and when he's hungry. There's nothing wrong with him always eating right now, it's perfectly fine and quite normal. I fed my kids when they were hungry, be it every 1 - 2 hours or every 3 or 4 at that age.

4 months is also the time where they start going through growth spurts and change their eating habits.

I would just go with it. feed him when he's hungry....this is very normal.

No. Don't make him wait 3 hours if he's hungry before then. Just feed him on demand. I know that motherhood is hard. I'm a first time mom and it was really hard for me to feed my baby ALL the time the first few months of his life. Like, literally, ALL the time.

Think of it this way, There are times when us grown up don't want to eat a lot and there are times where we want to eat a lot! Don't force him to eat if he doesn't want it. Babies are smart and know what they need to survive.

you should make appropriate quantities last, rather than trying to feed as much as they can in as short a time as possible. This time element is significant because the infant's system needs time to recognize satiety, long before the stomach has a chance to get over-filled. It is a great way to prevent obesity later in life, always letting baby choose when he is full. Rather than encouraging shutting off his full signals!

Small, more frequent feedings will work better than larger ones spaced farther apart. Your baby's tummy is about the size of his fist. Take a full bottle and place it next to your baby's fist and you'll see why tiny tummies often spit the milk back up when they're given too much at one time.

Go with it. He's probably going through a growth spurt. His eating habits will level out, don't worry. Just let him eat when he's hungry, as much or as little as he wants.

  • Maybe before, he was going through a growth spurt, and now just needs enough to fill him up.

    Feed on demand

Feed him when he is hungry. He knows how much he can handle and when he needs it.
