Need Help With Lyrics To A Righteous Brothers Song, Please?

In the early 1970's The Righteous Brothers recorded a song called Rock And Roll Heaven. In the mid to late 1990's they did another, updated version of this wonderful song. Same sweet melody but with Roy Orbison, Ricky Nelson, Jerry Garcia, Freddy Mercury & Kurt Cobain to name a few. Could you please help me find the lyrics and the link to those lyrics? It was lovely as the first and I once had the CD single which has been stolen. I can't find it or the lyrics anywhere. Thank you for your help.

OMG I've been looking all over trying to hear this song (I had it on my laptop before it crashed), and for the lyrics. Can't find that version anywhere, but I remember a few lines (not neccesarily in this order)

    If you believe in forever

Then life is just a one-night stand

If there's a rock and roll heaven

Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band

    Elvis loved us tender

John cried give peace a chance

And Roy introduced us to his Pretty Woman

    Jackie took us higher

Ricky walked us down to Lonesome Town

    Dennis gave us Good Vibrations

    Marvin sang brother, brother

    Mama sang Monday Monday

Stevie Ray Vaughan was on his way

I wish I could be more of a help. I am almost 100% positive Cobain isn't mentioned in it (& that the song was re-released in '91 or '92). This is the cd with that version http://www.amazon.com/Reunion-Righteous-Brothers/d...

Hi! I can't find anything that mentions most of the artists that you have listed; all that I found is that "Rock and Roll Heaven" was originally recorded in 1974, then again in 1991 to include Elvis, Marvin Gaye, Jackie Wilson, Dennis Wilson, John Lennon, and several others. However, I can only find two versions of the song: the original, and one that references Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, Jim Morrison, John Lennon, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Ray Charles. The second song can be found here: http://alanoday.com/ -- there's a link on the left where you can dl and listen to the song, but I'm not sure it's the version you're looking for...I'm sorry that's all I could find. :-(

    If you believe in forever

Then life is just a one-night stand

If there's a rock and roll heaven

Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band

    Jimmy gave us rainbows

Janis took the piece of our heart (?)

    And Otis…(something I couldn’t understand)

Sing a song to light my fire

    Remember Jim that way

And they found another place, another place to pray (?)

    If you believe in forever

Then life is just a one-night stand

If there's a rock and roll heaven

Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band

    Remember that bad leroy brown

Hey jimmy touched us with that song

Time wont change the way we came to know

And bobby gave us Mack the knife

Look out he’s back in town

    We’ll all be there together

When they meet in one big show

    If you believe in forever

Then life is just a one-night stand

If there's a rock and roll heaven

Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band

    There’s a spotlight waiting

    No matter who you are

Cause everybody’s got a song to sing

    Everyone’s a star (Everybody’s got to be a star)

    Chorus repeats

Source(s): that's all i could get from the song on youtube, some verses are hard to understand :)

Punk Rock one zero one by way of Bowling for Soup references Living on a Prayer by way of Bon Jovi by way of making use of the names Tommy and Gina :) Also, Glass Onion by way of the Beatles references plenty in their different songs - I am the Walrus, Fixing a Hole, Obladi Oblida, and many others...
