If you had a broken down modern day car, would you consult an 1894 age old car manuel to fix it?

I doubt a car manuel from 1894 could be very much help to fix or help your modern day car in anyway.

And if you wouldn't consult an age old car repair manuel to fix your car, then why would you consult a 2000 year old book to determine your morals and how to deal with situations and such?

Update:

*manual

Well for crying out loud, my dictionary is retarded then. >:(

BTW, morals don't change?? Really now? Back then it was okay for a woman to marry her rapist, for people to own slaves, to stone people to death for not falling in line, to kill people for 'witchcraft', etc.

"No, I'd consult a new book. What does this have to do with anything? Morals haven't changed. What was right 2000 years ago is still right today."

Yea, nobody would ever allow democracy, or abandon slavery. Morals are eternal afterall.

For whatever situations are still around as they were back then, the Bible is up to date.

Morals of the Bible were in regard to those who were in covenant with God.

Your objections are not taking into account the historical facts of all societies -

The sexual morals of the Jews in covenant with God required women and men to control themselves. If however a couple secretly engaged in sex before marriage and found out, then they were required to marry.

The so called marrying of a rapist is your misreading of the text.

The owning of slaves was a practice of those days. The owners were required to treat them well. As opposed to the mistreatment of slaves in any other society in those days.

The stoning of offenders was because the Jewish people had their own laws that all had to adhere to just as any other society of those days had their local laws concerning crime and punishment.

Dealing with witchcraft was in regard to any Jew who might think to practice it. They had no jurisdiction regarding any other society who practiced it.

While technology constantly changes, Christians believe that God does not change and that truths are eternal. So in a million years from now, if Jesus hasn't returned yet, the Bible will still be just as important to Christians as it is now.

The Word of God is timeless because the issues of life have never changed. Sin is still the same. Everything that is being done today has already been done. Everyone will face death. Therefore, the Bible is as relevant today as it was at any other time. To be honest, we are blessed that we even have it. Many never even had a chance to read the Sacred Words of God. Greater judgment will be upon us because we have the Scriptures. Mark my words.

  • Technology changes rapidly.

Morals - at least the big ones - do not.

    Don't kill

    Don't steal

and Don't mess around with the neighbor's ole lady

    are timeless.

Anywho - there are words of wisdom in most books. This was a silly comparison.

If you had a 1894 car today, you'd consult a 1894 manual if you had one and use modern equivalents

The thing is the Word of God has not changed.

You cannot compare Salvation of your soul with a repair manual! The Holy Bible is divinely inspired by a Transcendent Creator who loves us.

Each telephone has DNA and it's consisted of two strands tightly woven round each different. The thing that prevents the two strands from breaking apart is referred to as a telomeric cap (which is random nucleotide sequences known as nonsense codons. Codon is a three sequence of nucleotides that codes for amino acids eg. CUU is a amino acid known as proline . A nonsense codon is one who doesnt code for any amino acid production) every time your cells divide a small sequence is misplaced there by using reducing the stability of the phone's DNA (in layman's terms). This will likely eventually lead do most of Ur cells' DNA becoming unstable. And by and large when a mistake happens in DNA the cell will perform auto cytolysis (telephone suicide) to avert issues. So when you find yourself historical most of ur cells telomeric caps shall be low and they're prone to die when they try to divide.. Whats quite interesting about this theory is the influence it has on evolution (when you consider that this happens on each meiotic as well as mitotic divisions. Because of this that a species grows ancient too before it mutates.. But thats yet another story)
