So, when you are 'dead & gone...?

... would you rather be:

- Buried

- Cremated

- Freeze-Dried & Composted

I'm asking because I recently read about the freeze-drying thing becoming very popular in Sweden and the UK; apparently they freeze-dry your bod, break it down with Ultrasound, and bury you in a way that's eco-friendly. (You can even have a 'Memorial Tree/Shrub' planted, with you as part of the compost!)

So, what would YOU prefer?

I was reading a few weeks ago about the Parsi people of India. They are the last remnants of Zoroasterianism, probably the oldest monotheistic religion. They believe in returning the bodies of their dead to nature. They put them out in a brick enclosure with an open top, and they are eaten by a particular species of buzzard.

The problem is that this buzzard is becoming endangered, it is nearly extinct. So the bodies just lie there and rot. They don't quite know what to do about this. Maybe composting would be better! But why does the body have to be freeze-dried and broken down? Why not just bury the body as it is? Wouldn't that have about the same effect?

Me, I'd just as soon be cremated.

    Probably cremated.

I want my ashes to be scattered somewhere I loved as a child. Not the freaking ocean where I can be eaten by some plankton. Then that plankton gets eaten by a crab. Then that crab gets eaten by a turtle. Then that turtle gets eaten by a Great White Shark.

But hey I guess that's the circle of life.

I'd rather be cryogenically frozen right before I'd die so I would be frozen for 1,000 years and when I woke up after my frozen state, robots and aliens would find me and they would cure me so I could live even longer. Then, when I started dying again, repeat the process. If it ever failed, I would just want to be buried.

That which remains of this body will be cremated.

The body is temporary, thus any action taken with it

is redundant. My spirit will have passed to the other

dimension thus I shall be having a great time there.
