How would South Koreans react if they saw a Chinese person in South Korea?

I am a Chinese and might visit South Korea someday. My best friend is South Korean. She went up to me and asked me if I was Chinese, I said yes and I asked her if she was Korean, she said yes and now we are best friends. I am currently learning the Korean language. How would South Koreans react if they saw a Chinese person in South Korea ? How would they also react if they heard a Chinese person speaking Korean in South Korea ?

They really wouldn't care. The South Koreans are usually nice and couldn't care less what your race is except for some of the older generation people, some of them can be racist but not all. And sometimes you won't even know if a person really is racist. But back to the point. No one would care if you were Chinese because many Chinese people live in South Korea, some of the k-pop singers like Hang Geng from Super Junior is Chinese. And the fact that South Koreans and Chinese people are both Asian makes it better! :) hope this helped!

There are Chinese in South Korea, and there are many Koreans that live in China close to the border with the North that speak Korean and Chinese.

It is not unusual to see Chinese in Korea.

You will not have any problems in South Korea.

Korea is a very homogenous country. If your Asian and is in Korea, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference of you being Chinese or Korean until you open your mouth. Also, if you learn Korean and spoke Korean, then they would still see you as a Korean person or just think your a very bright person. The thought of you being chinese wouldn't matter until later on. They will just expect more from you. Also, there's a lot of Chinese exchange students in Korea so its pretty normal to meet or see a Chinese person in Korea.

Korea is the most ethnocentric country out there. Their "kpride" blinds them into to thinking that all other countries/races are inferior to theirs. Usually most koreans are scornful at the idea of seeing a Chinese person. Just a few months ago, this Chinese guy who was in Koreatown, LA was beaten to death by a band of Koreans. Fortunately, the perpetrators were arrested. This is ironic because korean americans are supposed to be tolerant of people of different cultures. Imagine what it's like to be in Korea with the whole lot of them.

They'd could care less because in kpop there are Chinese people that speak Korean and plus there are other minorities living there that speak Korean, so you have nothing to worry about!
