Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin and Sean Avery?

Sean Avery is said to be the most hated man in the NHL (last time I checked), and I've always accepted this.  I hear people talk about Crosby, or Ovechkin and I can see that their skill warrants the hate, but why Avery?  Is it his 0.16 Goals per game avg over his career?  Is it because he has dated mildly attractive actresses from terrible movies? (Maybe).  Is it because most men are homophobic and the fact that he has interned in vogue, painted his nails and claims he likes women's purses the real issue?  

What I want to know is where can I get me some of that juice?  I want to show up to my job, talk some trash, not really do much, occasionally do something helpful and get paid a lot of money while everyone still talks about me...Seriously,  I could do that well.  


My question is how did a man who was never drafted end up making $4 million a year just on being a pest?  Also, after next year do you think any team is willing to sign him knowing his past/ now he really just plays a little bit and doesn't get into any trouble?

No, it's the fact that he doesn't play hockey like a hockey player should. He waves his stick in front of the goalie out of distraction, he makes comments about players' wives, he does stuff that exemplifies a lack of effort and a disrespect for hockey. On top of that he makes dirty hits.
