  • Bobby Ryan on Trading block after Ducks find out he loves Vampires...?

I heard the news that Bobby Ryan is on the market. Upon doing my research I've found out he's a big twilight fan and goes to see the vampire movies.

    http://www.thepostgame.com/features/201111/special...

    1) Do you think Ryan will be traded?

    2) To what team and for whom?

    3) Do you think Ryan would fit well on your team?

  • Are the Mighty Ducks movies the most inaccurate hockey movies ever?

Growing up I used to watch the Mighty Duck movies, and thought they were *sooo cooollll*, but recently I watched one and I was like, "Interference, trip, intent to injure, interference, offsides..."

The bash brothers? Really...So it's legal to go hit everyone with out the puck in a malicious intent to injure...Russ Tyler taking his helmet off before shooting his Knuckle puck in full goalie pads? Cowboy dwayne roping someone mid game?

My question is: Do you think the Mighty Ducks movies inaccuracies have anything to do with the unpopularity and general misunderstanding of the game of hockey in the United States?

(I'm taking on a deeper level of comparison about the non-hockey fan's understanding of hockey, compared to the non-football fan's understanding of football ect.)

BQ: What is your favorite inaccurate part about the Mighty Ducks movies?

I like how Fulton Reed could shoot a puck through the net...Wow.

  • 2012 Subaru WRX release date?

So, here's the story. I just recently lost my 2006 STI in a flood and I'm looking to buy a white 5 door hatch WRX...I spoke with the local dealership and they can't find exactly what I'm looking for, so they're talking about ordering me one for 12...They're unsure of the release date as well as the MSRP.

Does anyone have the info on the release date of the WRX...I know the new Impreza comes out later this month, but not the WRX. I've checked all over online, can't find much.

  • Taking Charge of Concussions...Hockey?

All the recent talks of concussions and head shots has made me dizzy. I feel like all of the sudden ( I know it's not all of the sudden) that everyone and their mother has a concussion. What is the NHL to do about this? Take away head shots, take away leading with your shoulder, not being able to hit anyone?

I think they should honestly take a look at their own rule book first and mainly the charge.

42.1 Charging - A minor or major penalty shall be imposed on a player who skates or jumps into, or charges an opponent in any manner.

Charging shall mean the actions of a player who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner. A “charge” may be the result of a check into the boards, into the goal frame or in open ice.

A minor, major or a major and a game misconduct shall be imposed on a player who charges a goalkeeper while the goalkeeper is within his goal crease.

A goalkeeper is not “fair game” just because he is outside the goal crease area. The appropriate penalty should be assessed in every case where an opposing player makes unnecessary contact with a goalkeeper. However, incidental contact, at the discretion of the Referee, will be permitted when the goalkeeper is in the act of playing the puck outside his goal crease provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact.

So looking at a charge, basically it's what every 4th liner does every shift on the ice...They go out there and dump the puck in and hit the people, they finish their checks and there are many times when they can make a play on the puck but they rather check someone, because that's their job. I think if the NHL actually took a look into charging (basically every Ovechkin hit) and would assess more penalties then players may think twice before hitting someone after taking 10 strides.... Hitting is meant to separate the man from the puck, not to dump the puck in and then go skate as fast as you can and kill someone.

If you really put your foot down on charging you can make the game safer and not take the hitting aspect out of the game.

  • Tennis Racquet help...Help finding the right racquet?

So my girlfriend suggested that we take up tennis together. I've tried to get her to play golf but she is so impatient and hates how slow the game is. I've played tennis but never too serious, but I was wondering what kind of racquet to get. I mean I love pretty much all sports and she always gets mad at me whenever I'm out playing hockey, or riding my bike, playing in my baseball league or golfing with friends. So I figure it's a sport we can learn together.

What size racquet to get her and myself (both adults)

She's rather tall, runner, but has no upper body strength.

Me: I'm avg height, work out all the time, but have a problem with putting any sort of spin or control with my shots.

    Thanks

  • Why fighting is good for hockey?

Please give me your best answer why fighting is actually a good thing (besides entertainment) in hockey. Please use this reference of a basketball fight between a Chinese team and Georgetown in an exhibition game to plea your case. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/blog/the_d...

If you watch videos or see pictures, you can see guys on the floor being kicked, chairs being thrown, lack of fighting skill and proper fighting etiquette.

Fights will happen in sports, no matter what. So why not allow people to fight in the proper way instead of the melee way (As seen in basketball, soccer, football, baseball ect).

  • I BET you don't know hockey.?

Say today you were given $10,000 and you had to place a bet on who was going to win the Stanley Cup for the 2011-2012 season. You have to make your bet today, and you can not keep any of the money. You have to put the full $10,000 on one single team. What team would you pick, and what's your reasoning behind it...If you win you get to keep half of the money, if you lose well...lets just say don't lose.

Based on these Odds from an online gambling site:

    Vancouver Canucks 5/1

    Boston Bruins 8/1

    Washington Capitals 17/2

    Philadelphia Flyers 9/1

    Pittsburgh Penguins 9/1

    San Jose Sharks 9/1

    Detroit Red Wings 12/1

    Tampa Bay Lightning 12/1

    Chicago Blackhawks 15/1

    Los Angeles Kings 16/1

    Anaheim Ducks 22/1

    Montreal Canadiens 22/1

    Buffalo Sabres 25/1

    Nashville Predators 25/1

    New Jersey Devils 30/1

    Phoenix Coyotes 35/1

    Calgary Flames 35/1

    Carolina Hurricanes 35/1

    Dallas Stars 35/1

    New York Rangers 35/1

    St. Louis Blues 45/1

    Toronto Maple Leafs 60/1

    Ottawa Senators 60/1

    Colorado Avalanche 65/1

    Edmonton Oilers 70/1

    Minnesota Wild 70/1

    New York Islanders 70/1

    Winnipeg 80/1

    Columbus Blue Jackets 90/1

    Florida Panthers 125/1

  • If you had to change your name, and it had to be a Hockey player's name?

Let's just say you were witness to a horrendous crime and you were placed in the witness protection program. You had to chose a new name to live your life under, but it has to be a former/ current professional hockey player's name. (Note it doesn't have to be just NHL)...What would your new name be, and why.

  • I drank from the Calder cup. Hockey?

So my local team just won the Calder cup (the trophy awarded to the AHL playoff champion), they had a parade and brought it to the bar. I know some people so I got a chance to drink out of it....

There goes my chances of ever winning it.

Where did the whole superstition start of not touching the cup and not picking up (but sometimes picking up) the Wales Trophy and Campbell Bowl?

BQ: Have you ever seen the stanley cup in person, if so did you touch it?

  • Christmas in July? Hockey?

When I was a kid I would get really excited before Christmas, now that I know that's fake and we only get little gifts that we don't really care about (Thanks for the Socks MOM), there's only one day I get excited for...July 1st.

After Thorton, Semin, and even Justin Williams have signed deals, do you think Brad Richards will get a ridiculous contract because he's the only big name left out there?

To whom, for how much and how long (guess).

  • Has anyone else purchased their 2011 NHL playoff tickets yet?

So, today while at work I received a text with a promo code to get advanced tickets for the 2011 playoffs 1st round for the New York Rangers....I have no idea when game 4 will be, therefore I don't know when to notify work, but the tickets were such a great price I decided to buy. I got 2 tickets 300 section for $99.50 each.....When I've bought tickets before for the playoffs on stub hub I got 400 level for $190 each, so better seats for a better price is what I was thinking. Has anyone else done this not knowing when the game is and if the team will make the playoffs?

BQ: What are their chances of actually making it out of the first round if the Rangers actually make the playoffs?

  • Calling all Benders, Dusters, Plugs, Danglers and possibly Meat Wagons? Hockey?

For anyone who has ever played hockey or knows a thing or two about the sport, knows there's a whole lingo, a slang if you will behind the game...From insults, to other names for pieces of equipment, I personally like to hear slang terms. Give me your best chirps, slang, a knowledge...None of that Pierre McGuire crap. I want to hear what you know..

Also don't be a bender and Google "Hockey Slang" because every site up there has like "Biscuit is puck" that's completely lame.

I will give the best answer to the most original answer, or a slang I've never heard before (include explanation) , or be clever and take a current slang term like: "Bar-Down" : Meaning taking a shot that hits crossbar and goes directly down into the goal...and turning it into "Tink-Bar-South"

Listen you little Lee Winklers, I expect good things so don't give me any terrible answers.

  • Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin and Sean Avery?

Sean Avery is said to be the most hated man in the NHL (last time I checked), and I've always accepted this. I hear people talk about Crosby, or Ovechkin and I can see that their skill warrants the hate, but why Avery? Is it his 0.16 Goals per game avg over his career? Is it because he has dated mildly attractive actresses from terrible movies? (Maybe). Is it because most men are homophobic and the fact that he has interned in vogue, painted his nails and claims he likes women's purses the real issue?

What I want to know is where can I get me some of that juice? I want to show up to my job, talk some trash, not really do much, occasionally do something helpful and get paid a lot of money while everyone still talks about me...Seriously, I could do that well.

My question is how did a man who was never drafted end up making $4 million a year just on being a pest? Also, after next year do you think any team is willing to sign him knowing his past/ now he really just plays a little bit and doesn't get into any trouble?

Sean Avery...You used to be the most hated man in the NHL...Now you're just some guy racking up a few points a year.

  • It's official: The Greatest hockey player of all time.?

Not Crosby, Not Ovechkin, Not even Wayne Gretzky. If you were a mastermind geneticist and were able to pull certain attributes from each player you wanted to make a super-human greatest hockey player ever, who and what part would you use.

    For me:

    Shot: Stamkos

    Hitting Ability: Scott Stevens

    Vision: The Great one

    Hands: Patrick Kane

    Speed: Gaborik

    Agility: Crosby

    Endurance: Ryan Callahan

    Leadership: Messier

    Fighting Ability: Colton Orr

    Trash Talk: Sean Avery

    Shot Blocking: anton volchenkov

    Defensive Ability: Nicklas Lidstrom

    Discipline: Pavel Datsyuk

    IDK. Make up your own

  • How much wood would Wayne Gretzky chuck?

How much wood would Wayne Gretzky chuck if he broke a stick after every 2 goals or evey 3 points with that stick (whichever came first).

Also if Wayne was a lumberjack what do you think he would carve out of tree stumps in his free time?

Okay here's the serious part: Wayne Gretzky played while I guess I was naive, and I never really heard anyone speak negatively about the guy. Maybe I didn't pay attention or maybe because I was a kid and he had a cartoon called ProStars that I thought he was just the greatest and I accepted it...I hear people now a days compare Crosby to Gretzky (well for like 10 years now), but did people hate Wayne as much as they hate Crosby?

  • Why does my nose bleed every day.?

I'm not even kidding when I say I have a nosebleed almost every day. I wake up with them sometimes, I get them while driving, on the golf course, on the ski slopes, while I'm sitting at my desk at work, while I'm in the shower. It does not matter where, my nose keeps bleeding. I never got a nose bleed in my life till about 4 years ago, now I get them all the time. I went to a DR for my ear, and I had him look at my nose and he said I have a deviated septum, but apparently nose bleeds are no big deal to him. I just want them to stop, they kind of suck when you're sitting at your desk and blood gets all over your new shirt.

  • Lundqvist vs Brodeur...whose the weird one?

Martin Brodeur had been quoted as saying of the Rangers' goaltender, "The way he plays is not something I like too much. Lundqvist is weird."

Which style is better for the NHL today...The sit back in the net style of Lundqvist or the flop around style of Brodeur?

This question is purely on style...Not on career success, because that's not fair to judge. I want to know whose style you think works better in the NHL. You may break it down into categories. Which style is good for a break away, a screen, deflections, scrambles in front of the net, even wraparounds (matteau, matteau, matteau). I want evidence.
