Is the Protestant Church the one true church established by Jesus Christ 2000 years ago?

Many Protestant Christians believe that they are the true Christians and the Catholic and Orthodox Eastern denominations aren't Christian and aren't saved. So I want to know how many Protestants believe they are the direct descendants of the early church.

No true christian can claim their particular brand is correct!

The Roman Emperor Constantine produced the bible and he was a pagan not god! He took the Jewish religion and basing it on the Mithras religion, organized it into Christianity and then into the Holly Roman Catholic Church!! Not in Israel or any of the countries of supposed origin but entirely ITALIAN!

Not one word of it is contemporary with the period and was not written until several hundred years after the period the story is set in!! How did the apostles write their books more than a hundred years after they would have been dead?

Since then Christianity has been split into over 38,000 different denominations, sects and cults setting christian against christian and christians against everyone else!

    God's work? Hardly!

It must be the Devil and the Antichrist working together to divide, conquer and destroy christianity from the inside!

Your first statement is false, but, the second one has merit.

Very few Protestants do not accept Catholics and Orthodox as not being Christian. It would be silly to; they are 2 of the 3 main branches of Christianity, with Protestantism being the other.

However, there are indeed denominations that go right back. Anglicans, and some Lutherans (the Evangelical ones) are part of the "Apostolic Order." This means their priests were ordained by someone ordained by someone ordained by... all the way back to the Pentecost, when the Jesus' followers received the gift of the Holy Spirit. These denominations can trace their history back that far, in an unbroken line. There are not many Protestant denominations that claim this, but, there are some.

Most are something new, and something old. Not happy with Roman Catholic ways, nor the "established" churches, they sought to recover their roots, by trying to emulate the very early church. Thus, they believe they are acting in a original manner, although they are new denominations. Some of them accuse RC, Anglicans, the Orthodox, and others as not being "real," as they have departed from the what these new churches see as the correct interpretation of Scripture.

No church is the "one true church." If you take an apple, and cut it in half, which is the original? They both are! Thus, Catholics and the Orthodox, who split in 1054, have equal claims. Anglicans are the continuation of the church in England, although some point to much, much earlier roots: possibly as early as 37AD, at Glastonbury (making the Anglican Church older than the Roman one, which began about 50AD in Rome).

    .

There are no direct Christian Denomination descendants of the early church. Just as Jesus predicted, a Great Apostasy began to developed after the Apostles died.

True religion had to be resurrected

It is alive and active today.

Just keep your eyes and heart open. It will come to you.

The Protestant Church was invented during the 16th century. Christ established one Church only, his Church, the Body of Christ in 33 AD, before he ascended into heaven.

Protestantism came about because of certain ones who protested against some of the Catholic church's false teachings. However, they held onto several of those false teachings, so that they are not following God in truth. A discussion about them is in the article posted here: http://www.watchtower.org/e/20091101a/article_01.h...

By the way, I was raised attending Protestant Sunday School and Church from kindergarten to 7th grade, when I left it, because I recognized that what they taught was not in harmony with the very copy of the Bible which they themselves had given me.

God's people are all over and in all sorts of churches. God wanted the Israelites to reflect Him to the surrounding nations. Instead they were often a reflection of the traditions and religions around them. The mother church absorbed much of the pagan traditions and religions around it. It's traditions and forms of worship such as Sunday worship can be traced back to Constantine. God has always had His people that have refused to bend their knees to serve other gods, even in the face of persecution and death. The protesters of the mother church are called Protestants. I was reading on a Catholic website last week where they were called heretics. That was the word used during the severe persecutions during the Dark Ages, Middle Ages, and the Reformation Period. Church membership will not save you. A close relationship with Christ in you will. 1Corinthians 2:16 tells us that we can have the mind of Christ. We will see Christ as our High Priest in Heaven, offering His blood for the forgiveness of our sins. With Christ in us, we will love others, even as Christ loved others. We will be obedient to God's law in the strength of Christ in us. We will cease to be in rebellion against God's mark of His authority, in the only commandment that begins with the word remember. You can legislate behavior, but you cannot legislate the heart. The heart can only be won with the love of God.

Even in a small independent church, the pastor might be the "pope" of that church. Traditions and hierarchies are part of human nature. The conflict arises when people say "my traditions are right and your traditions are wrong."

I believe that a church can be two or more people who congregate in the name of Christ.

The Book of ACTS explains the early Church well. Read and then decide.

The Orthodox Church are the ones who are safeguarding the "Church" for the rest of us. And waiting for us to come home.
