Why wouldn't god allow second chances?

If this life is all we have, and free will gives us the opportunity to believe and do what we want, then why would there be an eternal punishment for something we are inherently ignorant to? Even people in prison can be given a second chance.

According to The Bible, the only unforgivable sin is using God's name in vain. All other sins, it says, can be forgiven. I think there are plenty of second chances available. Any day that someone wants a second chance at life, they can choose to seek it out.

Who says you dont get a second chance. As long as you are alive even if you have murdered somebody, you have a chance to repent and be forgiven. Once the physical is done and you move on to the next stage though you have to live with the consequences of your actions. maybe karma? But in the end nothing is permanent God forgiving and im sure he knows we're just learning along the way. We all make mistakes, and all more than once.

We have only one life, but we have plenty of chances. Lets say for example you live to be 80. 365 days a year, 365 times 80 = 29,200 chances. Not to mention the hundreds of chances we have to chose him within every single one of those 29,200 days. If all these chances are only one chance, then more then that would basically be asking for all eternity to decide. The fact is we have to decide, to get all eternity. Remember Jesus said to forgive not 7 times, but 77 times. And that was just to exagerate his parable. He means way more then that if we come to him with a repentant heart. Repentance means turn from. If your turning from and recieving forgivness your obviously being given more then one chance. Lets try not to waste those chances. hope this makes sense.

And never think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare [in horror].

Racing ahead, their heads raised up, their glance does not come back to them, and their hearts are void.

And, [O Muhammad], warn the people of a Day when the punishment will come to them and those who did wrong will say, "Our Lord, delay us for a short term; we will answer Your call and follow the messengers." [But it will be said], "Had you not sworn, before, that for you there would be no cessation?

First this is a lie from satan himself Revelation 20:14 and 21:8 both speak of those who are in hell as dying forever, the eternal part is the "effects" of Hell not the fire itself for in the next chapter God re makes heaven and earth. I don't need a second chance because God gives me many in this life John 14:15 "IF" You Love me [then] keep my commandments, I am saved and keep His commandments "because} i have accepted His salvation not to earn it. its a free gift what about free is a problem? we have a problem in keeping God's commands however Paul speaks of our problem in Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but [how] to perform that which is good I find not.

7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

When we awake each day we are given a second chance. In His name, we must make the most of every chance we receive for our days are numbered.

    John 15: 22 (KJV)

22If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.

The NIV uses "excuse" in place of "cloak"

    God Bless You!

  • There is but people won't admit to it. It's like they want to see people go to a fiery torment. Of course they also don't understand that there is no fiery torment, the vast majority of people DO NOT understand the Scriptures. That or they just drink too much haterade and just be hatin'. Jesus spoke of a resurrection of both the righteous and unrighteous. Of course, if you hear the word about Jesus Christ and just ignore it or flat out disbelieve it you may not be resurrected, it's up to God and who he holds in his memory.

Matthew 12:31-32 "Every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.Anyone who speaks against the Son of man will be forgiven but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven in this age or the age to come." [Repent] and be saved;John 3:3 "I tell you the truth no one can see the Kingdom of God unless he is born again."

    Born again in Christ Jesus.

Everyday that you live your life you are given a second chance.

let me ask you this...you have an entire lifetime to decide...to see the truth and decide on whether to accept or reject GOD or not. if you reject HIM in this lifetime what makes you think you would accept HIM in a second or even a third one?

19There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

20And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

21And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

    22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

26And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

27Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:

28For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

29Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

30And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

31And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

the truth is GOD knows your heart. HE knows who will reject HIM and who will accept HIM. HE knows that those who reject HIM will never accept HIM no matter how much HE pleads with them. so there is no purpose in second chances. no one is inherently ignorant. no one will have an excuse...GOD says that all will have a chance to accept or reject HIM.
