Are anti-government demonstrators here in the U.S. treated differently from those in Libya?

The US generally has demonstrators and are usually peaceful and are trying to get some sort of change enacted. Sometimes laws are broken, especially when liberals are involved such as looting, destruction of property, public nuisance (blocking traffic), or even assault but these are handled non-lethally for the most part. In Libya, the demonstrators were calling for the destruction of the government and that is a different story entirely. If that were to happen in the USA, likely martial law would be declared and if people resisted, people would die too. So really, not too different.
Washington sent the militia to quell the western revolt (Whiskey rebellion). Lincoln invaded Maryland and troops fired on the citizens of Baltimore when he feared the southern war for independence would be joined by Maryland. McAuthor used the cavalry commanded by Patton to break up the WW I veterans demanding the government keep it's promises to them by camping out in Washington, DC. Indeed, history is full of this. Did not the British use troops to try to quell the American rebellion and didn't Artillery Officer Napoleon Bonaparte fire on the Paris mob that was rebelling against the republic? It really isn't anything new, nor is intervention (after all, it was French intervention that allowed the USA to form at all). It is just that, by modern western standards, the use of force in Libya is considered too much and too indiscriminate plus Khadafi has made a lot of enemies over the years with his in-your-face attitude against all that disagreed with his idea of communist based pan-Arabism.

Well I'm not American - I'm English, but I would be exceedingly surprised if Obama was to use the US air-force to bomb protesters, or use the US Army's tanks against them. It wouldn't happen in my country either.
So yes I think anti-government protesters are treated different in the US that those in Libya.
It's simply wrong to do it. And 192 nations of the UN agree. That's pretty much most folk in the world.

They are totally ignored. Last year, In LA there was a huge demonstration about 9/11 being the inside job. Many veterans and current US soldiers took part in it, but it was never ever covered by the main media....didnt even come in local and national newspaper.

So far, anti-government demonstrators are not being shot with assault rifles or being strafed by jets.

No, actually we are very passive since we do not shoot them, unlike Libya, or China.
