Why do some drive so slow?
I always wonder why some drivers drive 5; 10; or even 15 mph below the speed limit when the weather is clear, the road is dry and its broad daylight. Its usually in an area where you can't pass and traffic just piles up behind them. It seems either they are terrified to drive, or they just don't care that they are holding up everyone behind them, or they are deliberately trying to make people angry. Any other ideas? Maybe someone who does this could enlighten me?

Most of the slow drivers I've seen lately are paying more attention to their cellphones than to the road.

If your just driving around the city where the speed limit is 40 and someone is doing 35 and your going to the same place the time difference is really negligible. You wont get to where your going very much faster than they will. Even on the highway unless your talking about a large driving distance the time it takes them going 5-10 mph less than you wont be that much.
I can beat people to where they are going when they are speeding and I am doing the speed limit just by knowing the proper streets to take, so speeding really does not help you.

I drive "slow" but for a different reason. I drive slow first and foremost to be safe, and secondly for gas mileage. I'm not always moving slowly though. Sometimes on the backside of a hill I'll get moving at 50-60.
I don't want people to get angry, that's the last thing we need is more enraged drivers on cell phones zipping by on a two way street. However, I refuse to exceed the speed limit by 20 or 30 mph just so that those behind get to where they need to go a few seconds sooner.
Also, when you drive slow, you have a chance to look around and enjoy what you drive by instead of passing it at 70 all the time.

I don't intentionally do it, but even when I'm driving 5 mph over the limit there is someone tailgating me; so I slow down.
