WWII Question.........................?

what did the Marine Corps do in WWII? what was their role??

    They fought mainly in the pacific. They had the job of making a beachhead..(.the first in). Island hopping was some of the worst fighting that occured.

    The Marines fought Japan in the Pacific theatre of WWII. They suffered huge losses and faced a ruthless, crazed enemy brainwashed by Emperor Hirohito (I think). They had many POWs as well. Army fought in Europe against the Nazis.

    They only fought the japanese against overwhelming odds in places like Iwo Jima and Guadacanal and tarwa i think.
