Running agp and pci graphic for multiple monitors.?

I have a pc running a ati graphics card with an AGP style slot, running dual monitors. I want o add a third monitor, and dont want to fork out for an expensive quad monitor card. Can I buy a cheap PCI card and run a third monitor on this? Or will the two cards clash and become a nightmare? Will I be able to extend my desktop on to the third monitor or will the seperate card not be recognised for such purposes. Real easy question each :-)

It will not work, aside from the fact that the two cards will be on a different bus (one on AGP and the other on PCI) running a different speeds and read rates, there is likely no option in the BIOS to run more than the one card at a time for your board. There were very few boards that ran AGP or PCi that would do this without either a hardware link card (looked a bit like a RAM Module) or a software emulation program that convinced Windows it was just one card when there were in fact two. As far as I know the has never been a board that would run an AGP card and a PCi card at the same time either, so I am afraid to say that I think you need to deleve into the pocket and spend some hard earned money.

To have three monitors you will need either a three or four port card with the software to be able to extend across the three screens.

You can't add an additional card and be able to extend your screen to three monitors, but there are products out there that will give you this ability.

The most notable one that comes to mind is called the TripleHead2Go and it's made by Matrox.

Not likely, the cards may not crashed but your processor may not beable to support a 3rd monitor.
